If you thought your A4 1.8t road like crap with 19s, wait till you put those 22s on an A6. Road like crap would be an understatement. Likely you could get them to fit at least in the front but 10.5 rear, never. I am heading to test fit 19s and 20s tomorrow. I have 19x8.5 et 48 OE now but moving to 19x9 et43 with a more aggressive offset or if I dont like those enough, will be doing 20x9 et43 offset and 255-30-20s all around in tires. From asking other C6ers, the 20x9 et43 with 255s at standard ride height, should work all around with no rubbing, if I drop it, then I either need to downsize the tire to 245s or get a better offset, like et45 or higher. Since I dont want to downsize tires, I wont drop my car. That should give you some idea of what direction.
Unfortunately the A6s have a fairly narrow body since our fenders arent bulging out like the former RS6, former V8s and others plus our offsets are higher, 45 to 50 or 8.5 to 9 inch wide wheel. Its the combo of these things that make our cars limited on what can be installed unless you dont mind spending a lot more then you can get much higher priced wheels with exactly what you want. If you check online at tire rack and tires.com, you'll see how limited wheels are for these cars. They almost dont have much of anything in 19x9 or 20x9 so it takes comparing what other guys here have done so you dont f--up your car and ride by trying something that some non Audi person says they think will work. I bought some wheels from a very reputable place here in So Cal for my 2010 MB E350. They swore the wheels and tires in 20s would fit fine, no rubbing and hub centric. As soon as I drove out I heard rubbing in the front and then eventually smelled rubber burning from the rear. The front offset was in too close and rubbed on the strut tower and the rear was tire was rubbing on the inner liner. They fixed it with adapters but they used something cheap and then i had a slight shimmy/vibration. I only tell you this story because if the person you are buying from thinks they are an expert and they are not, you will be the one left dealing with the problem and there is nothing worse than having a car that drives like crap and vibrates especially when you paid so much for the car and the new wheels/tires. I got my problem fixed by taking everything back to them since they clearly didnt do their homework. Hope that helps some. Will post pics and stats over the wend when I get everything installed.
