    45-50% tint?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello everyone!

I just recently purchased a 06 quartz grey metallic with black interior. I've tried the search but it looks like most people are going in the neighborhood of 35%, only lighter car I could find was a B6. I'd really like to add some tint but I don't want to go that dark, does anyone have a photo of 45, 50% maybe even lighter (but darker than factory) they could share with me?

    Really appreciate it!

50% isn't that light. It adds enough contrast to make it look good.

I did 50% because of the cops!!

50% is very light and does add a very nice contrast to a vehicle from the outside .... on the inside during the day you will notice the difference of the contrast but at night when you have lights on you .. it feels like there is nothing on your windows.

35% is considered a medium shade and probably the most popular IMO ... during day or night I gives a good balance of Light/block.

As far as Heat rejection goes for the different shades is all based on the Type of film and heat rejection properties. Something to keep in mind when Shopping around for Tint is not only the Shade/Darkness but the Heat rejection properties of the film. the color, and reputation. I recommend LLumar, LLumar F1, Johnson, CPF, 3m and Huper Optik.

Hmm...I know it's all preference, but I don't think 35% is too dark....I have black interior as well and you can see thru during the daytime and definitely darker at night, but no problems seeing out when driving...pics for reference:

I just got my windows tinted. I went with Llumar CTX 40% which registers as a 'true 35'. I'm REALLY happy with it. I didn't want to go too dark and the CTX 35% registers as a 30... Here's my car before the tint:

I have 35% all around, so I cant help you with 40-50% pics. If you want I can post pics of 35% on my car.

Some PPl get tint for heat rejection, some for privecy and some for both.

If you want a lighter tint but want to maintain maximum heat rejection, go with Huper Optik. You will have all the benefits of a 25-35% premium tint (F1, 3M...), with out the actual "tint".

Very clean set up .... for a luxury/sport german car .. right in the middle is where you want to be ... this is perfect... with your CTX 40 your getting 47% Total Solar Energy Rejection, 99% UV rejection and 52% glare reduction ... not to mention a very nice and smooth charcoal finish. This set you back about $450 to $550 easy

Compared to a Premium Dyed Film .. which i probably what most people have ..... you would have to have 5% tint all around to get the same type of Total Solar Energy Rejection!
    Now thats a Big difference!

Just add some Air80 to your windshield and your tint job will be complete!! Air80 blocks out 43% TSER @ 80% Transparency!!

I have 50% tint on quartz grey and really like it. On cloudy days it looks nice and dark, on sunny days not as dark, but still adds a nice contrast to the car. It all depends on what you like. I would have went 35-40, but PA laws are pretty strict. You can tell the car has tint, but it's not enough to draw too much attention to itself. I like that. To each his own...

Was concerned about night/low light visibility as well. Definitely look at the film you are getting before deciding on the percentage. I personally went with Huper 30% and actually much lighter than other providers at 30%. Partially blind in my right eye and have no issues seeing out at night including reverse. I paid the extra for the heat reduction, though you might not have a necessity for it.

I just got pulled over today for my tints and got a ticket. Registered 15% in the front and 22% in the rear. Previous owner said he installed 20% all around. VA Troopers are dicks, the officer was parked next to me in the parking lot, then when I pulled out he did too and proceeded to pull me over once I made a turn on the main road.

I'm now considering going legal 50% front, and 35% rear as it is a hassle being pulled over constantly.

Thanks man - that's a great idea for the windshield.

I love what I got. Like you said, it's a nice smooth charcoal color with excellent glare reduction and serves all purposes in the hot Atlanta summers. It's not too dark but not too light.

It was actually only $340. That's more than similar shops in the area for the same tint but I'd heard good things about the place I got it done at and I figure since I was going to do it, I might as well spend a little extra and get it done right. Plus it came with a lifetime warranty against peeling, discoloration and what not.

Looks really good on your car, but you've already got a nice contrast with your mirrors and trim, my car is going to have a tri-color effect, I just feel like it would be too busy, I'm thinking I'd like a more subtle change between my windows and paint. All the 35's posted on this thread look good though, you guys have given me something to think about if I could see some freakin 50% windows!

BTW, those wheels are sexy as hell, how much does a setup like that run?

Damn, what a dick! Sorry to hear that! Have you considered like 40-45% all around? To me, when I see light tint in the front and dark in the back it makes the car look uneven..but to each his own. Haha

Don't get me wrong, tarunpatel is a winner in my book, if this car drove by it would get the stare down from me, but it's just not what I'm lookin for as far as the tint goes.
