    LED Turn Signal /Indicator DIY?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have searched and couldn't find threads on any successful LED turn signal conversions.

Has anyone actually made them to work?

I'm considering these ebay LEDs - 1156 with 18 Amber LEDs

and these resistors, you can see the ratings on the pic,

Is this the correct resistor value? Would this combo work?

Where would be the best place to secure the resistors, as we know they can melt plastic surfaces?

How about flasher relays? Would they work instead of resistors?

    Cheers

have you checked superbrightleds for your lights, they are pretty inexpensive and probably cheaper than eBay. not sure about the resistors.

I would say go for 25w 10ohm - 50w seems a bit much considering the bulbs are only 21w max.

    This might help you... http://www.vorsprungcollective.com/t...ith-resistors/

Thanks for the link. So it seems resistor is the way to go. I haven't checked the stock turn signal bulb but they are 21w just like DRL then? What would happen if a 50w resistor was used? Error message?

Just confirming you used a pair of 6omh 50w resistors for the turn signals as well?

    Thanks

Yes I used 6omh 50W for my LED DRL, front and rear turn signals. No need for flasher relays.

Those worked for me at first, or so it seemed, but after leaving my car for a few days, they caused errors. I think it's due to the automatic headlight function as it only caused the error when I started the engine. If I started with the headlights off, it didn't cause the error.

The 25W 10ohm ones don't cause any errors at all and I leave my headlight switch in auto.

Anyone else has the same problem with 50w 6ohm resistors? I hope not as I've already bought this setup. They come as a package from the ebay seller (2x 50w ohm + 2x 18 amber LED 1156). Now I need to buy extra resistors if it is true.: (

So what's the correct ohm value for our turn signals?

    Thanks

I don't like it when things don't work, I'm going to order a few 25W 10ohm ones just in case.

IMO, I would copy what airborne did since he has been running it for quite some time and he hasn't had any problems ( that I know of )

Yeah I've got airborne's setup (6ohm 50w resistors) already, but since I'm ordering a few led bulbs for another car I thought might as well get a set of 25w just in case.

Anyone know if 25ohm is too small?

You need to visit http://store.ijdmtoy.com/ They have turn signal bulb, both the 360 LED light bulb and outward facing LED bulbs for signals that are error-free!
