Does all dealer in the US go by the same invoice price? I was told that the actual invoice price differs from region to region.

The invoice prices should be the same for the car and options, but there is a difference in extra fees. The is a regional advertising fee, destination and car prep fee.

all of those fees (except destination, which is always $875) are BS and should be negotiated away, IMO.

I got my price at invoice + $750 and this was for a custom order. As we were writing up the order form, I noticed that it only listed MSRP, so I asked what the invoice prices were for each options. I had a print out from Edmunds with me as a reference. That was when dealer told me that the invoice price differs from region to region and I can go by what Edmunds says. The price difference is roughly $1500. Antways, I have my doubt which is why I came up here.

I meant the price difference between this dealer's invoice and the invoice I printed out from Edmunds is ~$1500. Is that possible?

Yes because CA dealerships like to lump Ad Fees with the Invoice. Also, don't forget the Destination Fee. It's probably just ANOTHER mind game that dealerships are playing to make you seem like you're getting a smoking deal (i.e. "Invoice" + $750 vs. Invoice + Ad Fees + Destination Fee + $750).

However, I wouldn't judge whether to ditch or stick with a dealership that is using this "Invoice" method because ALL of them do it in this state. It seems like most people on here who bought their car from CA had the Ad Fees partially waived.

Yes the add fees vary from region to region. LA area seems to have the highest fees in California. They are on the invoice and are paid for by the dealership. If a dealer is willing to discount them he is just taking it out of his profit margin.

Ding! This has been discussed, Port prep fee and region ad fees are real. Been discussed back to the days of Audi World being in KAWF format.

If you want a invoice that is pretty much on the money use Truecar.com. Edmunds will not have regional fees.

Great! Thank you all for the feedbacks. According to truecar.com, the invoice with the options I ordered would be $55,175 + $932 ad fee + $750. I'll use the print out from truecar.con as a guideline when it comes time to finalize the numbers. thanks again!
