    Coolant Level Sensor Plug

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know where I can find a replacement coolant level sensor plug? It is the end attached to the wiring harness which plugs into the bottom of the coolant expansion tank. My plug has such brittle pieces and wiring, I was going to try replacing the wires but I wanted to see if there are any replacements out there. I broke the purple plastic clip which holds it together as it fell apart the moment I touched it.

Anyway here is the piece taken apart:

Correct. All it is is a sensor circuit. Two contacts that are crossed by a switch when there's fluid, and when there's no fluid, it opens, causing loss of signal across the wiring, triggering your light. Twisting them together will cause a closed circuit, making the computer think it's still good.

Same thing happened to mine awhile back. I just pushed in back on without the retaining portion working as it had busted. No problems - stays in place without the retainer...as least for me.

How do we replace the entire wire? Is there a way to splice a connection to get the sensor working again?

ecstuning does indeed have them. I replaced my plug two months ago. there's a part number on the side of your broken plug. search for that on their site. or search 3-pin connector I believe it is. I wouldn't delete it or splice wires, I prefer clean OEM setup. but everyone is different, so whatever floats your submarine

The entire wire is part of the wiring harness, so if you wanted to shell out ~$1000-1500 for a new one go ahead. This is quite an old thread though.. I guess you can have a pass.

You can replace just the plug with pin extraction tools..., or splice in wires with sealing butt connectors and some heat shrink tubing.. all depends on the state of the wiring.
