What is the difference between S-Line and non S-line Bumpers?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi Guys,

Looking at going back to an Avant, B8 this time, but am wondering what the differences are in bumpers.

I have seen the S-line + package which has the chrome rings around the fogs, sideskirt blades, and a different rear valence.

But really cant see the difference between S-line and non S-line, are am I not looking hard enough?

Please point out the differences if possible.

Just go to audi.com and check out the pictures. The hood body lines continue through the bumper. The fog grills are narrower and have only 2 horizontal lines which extend all the way onto the bumper. The front splitter is more pronounced and is different than the body color, also detachable. Subtle but aggressive.

    Rear valence/bumper - also significant improvement appearance-wise.
US models require Prestige + S-Line package. We also get Stone Guards, 3-spoke steering wheel, and incredible front seats.
Don't know Euro packages. You're in Monaco - break the bank

On the front bumper, also the body line above the foggrill continues in the s-line bumper, where on the non s-line it turns and follows the foggrill.
Small details but makes a difference imho (the reason why i changed front bumpers).

"Small details but makes a difference imho" - 100% correct. Why Audi makes us go to Prestige + S-Line package - more money for them.
    Our pain, their gain
How goes the fog grille 'air duct'

Didn't had respone on it in my new topic :p...
Didn't had time today and sadly i won't be around tomorrow when the bodyshopper comes by to look at the bumper-hood gap. But i will call him and ask if the foam use is good for them.
Anyway, it isn't a required item for the moment although i will be riding with one 'open' foggrill.
Back on topic, like said. The details are small and not every body will spot the difference (also depends on the car color as the lighter in color the better the lines pop up).
Personally i don't like the rear diffusor of the s-line.
If you are planning to mod the exterier of your car it might be important to know what you want to mod as several 'addons' are non s-line or visa versa. Otherwise you need to be creative :)

Which rear diffusors do you like? :) I always wanted to see others opinions :) for non s-line bumpers.

Not sure yet. I just don't like the center block on most diffusers that are availible. I like this one althought the fins might be slightly too agressive for my engine (2.0TDI :) ).

Sadly no better pictures where ever posted and it is a honk kong item.
The Votex one is also nice but then again the extra bump line between bumper and diffuser is too much imho.

But all depends on your tast and style.

Im not sure on the mods yet, I like the bigger air intake openings in the S-line, but I also like the line bending down on the non S-line, so hard choice.

Are the grills interchangable between S-line and Non S-line, as Ive seen people say both yes and no on here.

If we are talking about the fog grills, then - No they are not.

You can however buy fog grills from the China model of A4 (A4L) with chrome rings around the fogs - but you need to know someone i China, or be able to find them on ebay.

I'm replacing my non s-line bumper with a S4 (wich is basicly the S-line- bumper.
Fitting works but you will also need the cover plate on the underside (the small one). Not sure if it comes stock with the bumper as i bought mine second hand.
I kinda agree with you about the curved line above the fog grill and i was temped to body shape mine but i prefure to keep it how it is suppose to be.
All A4, S4 and all road B8 grills should fit the bumper. The mounting brackets should also be the same. In the end everything can be modified to fit (i placed an RS5 grill in mine).

Yep - I replaced my damaged non-sline bumper with an sline bumper.
    Basically what you need is:
    S-Line bumper
    S-Line fog grills
    S-Line skid plate
    S-Line spoiler (splitter)
and the horizontal slats that go between the bumper and splitter.

Thanks for the replies guys, need to sell our M3 and Mini Cooper first, and then we're looking at a B8 as its more practical with 2 young kids. Plus ever since my B6 Avant I always thought 1 day I would get back in an Audi Avant of some form.

Is there any difference in rear bumpers? Are the valances interchangable?

Only non s-line bumper will allow non s-line valances. S-line bumper only allow s-line type valances. Same for the front bumper 'spoiler'.

I know they say that the rear valances won't interchange but... What is the actual measurement of the rear valence of the S-Line vs. Non S-Line? If they are the same, I wouldn't see why they wouldn't be interchangable. The only thing I can think of is the mounting.

The sline bumper has a raised lip that surrounds the valance...

Ahh, I see. I haven't been that close to an S-line/S4 bumper. I see them driving around, but I obviously can't stare at the bumper while driving. Plus, going to a dealership in Germany here in my area is different than going to a dealership in the states - The cars on the lot have already been purchased and I haven't seen any S-Line vehicles on them.
