Replacement Wiper Blades for B8 S4's

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hello all-

I have been searching and have not found anything that states which wiper blades fit our cars and which are the best. Are they tricky to replace and do the majority of you use rain-x or something different? Any help would be appreciated.

    Cheers!

Are those the ones that had the long thread on the B8A4 section?

Does that have any effect on the rain/light sensor? I thought we couldn't use hydrophobic treatments on our windshields because of that.

Won't hurt anything, the sensor uses IR to bounce light back off the glass to a sensor. A water skin (untreated) or beads (from wax or things like rain-x) will still cause the light to refract and trip the sensor when enough light is not reflected back to the sensor.

Why not replace them with genuine OEM Audi wiper blades?

    We have them available below:

Pete - the OEMs are the worst blades ever IMO - sort of. If you like(d) using rain-x, I've found they shudder like crazy across your windscreen unless you basically apply the rain-x and then, well, buff it ALL off.

Other than that, great blades without product on the glass. I don't use the product anymore. And I much prefer rain-x to using wipers when possible.

The owner's manual <cough> even states not to use water-repellent products on the glass....

No idea if beefier blades would help though, but I assume they would.

I use and apply rain-away three to four times per year, monthly would be better. I have no issues with the stock blades. I find on the highway at 120 km/h there is no need for wipers when rain-away is applied properly. The other benefit to rain-away is ice and snow are much easier to clear. I use this stuff on all my cars.

I am willing to bet that Bosch actually makes the wiper blades for VW/Audi. Anyone know for sure?

I would save upward of $10 by choosing the boschs (which seems superior to OEMs) since I have Amazon Prime.

Have you tried wiping down the blades with a paper towel and some alcohol? I've found this to be a cure for wiper blades that shudder or produce that awful squeaking sound.

Haven't had any issues with the automatic rain sensing system. I am still using original wipers (a year and a half now - and on their second winter) and they work great. The big difference is how Aquapel has actually diminished the use of windshield washer fluid during the winter months. Compared to colleagues who go through 6 to 8 gallons of washer fluid per winter, I usually only need 2 to 3 gallons.

Not many options out there for replacements yet. I've been looking for some good replacements for a while with little success. The OEM ones are the worst wiper blades I've ever experienced. When driving while it's snowing they go from completely clean and free of ice to blocks of ice in ~30 minutes of driving. Although it does become a bit amusing if you have it set to auto wipe, since as they start cleaning less and less of the windshield they will start going faster and faster to try and clean the window but only end up leaving more and more water behind.

I'll definitely give it a try - I miss rain-x a lot. They don't ever squeak and are silky smooth (without rain-x on) but skip and chatter across the windscreen when I had product on.

No ice or snow here of any significance, just loads of rain, but over the 4 years I owned my BMW, I used half a bottle of rain-x (125ml or so) and NEVER used my wiper fluid - ever. I miss that.

I put these on last week:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00411RDN6
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00411RCXC

Exactly the same as OEM as far as I can tell... not that the OEMs were amazing but at least they fit. Couldn't find anything in stores short of stealership.

Just searched, its over on the other audi site. They got into the shape of the OEM wiper and concluded that it was the shape of one of the ribs that collected frozen water. The retained water would stiffen the wiper to the point where it would stop working. I have experienced this and was planning on swapping out my stock ones later this year to those being discussed. It was a pretty long thread and there was another thread with they were talking about where to find the Bosch A297s wipers that they were talking about.

I do this to my last car. 7 years on original blade and still wipe like new.

I put those on a couple months back and I can vouch that they're much better than OEM.

Since they were recommended by a person from Oregon and Minnesota, I feel confident in buying these for my A4. I bought Bosch OEM replacements last time and I have not been overly impressed.

I recently purchased the Valeo's and they work just fine. I have 2013 and the blades that came with it worked just fine. So I don't know what year the people who think the stock blades suck have though. That having been said, if you have an orbital buffer, I'd recommend hitting the window with the buffer and some polishing cream (after a good wash) to make sure it is really smooth. Then put on your favorite rain protectant (I'm using Glass Science Rain Clear and it works like a champ and seems to last much longer than anything else I've used).

I just replaced the OEMs after almost 4 years of use (monthly treated with 303 aerospace protectant).

The Bosch that Amazon sells are a perfect fit and work excellent. I am almost 100% sure they are the OEM supplier anyway, but the blade itself is more streamlined than the OEM piece.

Have had them for about a month in Seattle rain with absolutely zero complaints.

I replaced mine with Bosch, they SUUUUUUUUUUUUCK. I just got a refund from Amazon and am looking for new ones. They chatter like crazy, skip all over the place, and are loud. Never had blades that make the entire wiper unit shake and sound like someone is banging on my window.
