How long does it take for springs/coilover install?

I initially wanted to go for the coilover but can't seem to justify the cost (at least not now), so I'm planning on getting the springs instead.

My local shop estimated I needed to drop off the car for about 3 days including an alignment - is this typical for the rs4?

It depends...for a spring install...they may be thinking they're going to disconnect the drc lines up front and are leaving a day or two in there to send it to audi to be recharged?? For coilovers, the install itself will only take 4-5hrs taking your time...maybe 6 if bolts are stubborn. If they are going to be meticulous with the ride height adjustment, you could say another 3-4hrs going back and forth. This is also assuming they're going to torque all your control arm bolts at ride-height. If you're getting motorsports installed, add another 2-3hrs just to get the reservoirs through the engine bay. Another hour for alignment in the end unless you have adjustable upper control arms...

    ^Thanks for the info.

Is it necessary to have the drc recharged at the dealer (or recommend it)?

Coil overs should only really take about 30 mins per corner on S4's. I realize RS4's have a more sophisticated suspension than S4's but I imagine it still shouldn't take more than 45 mins per corner
A few mods here and there

Depends, are you getting just springs or replacing the DRC with coilovers/shocks?

Which shop are you using for the install?

I would guestimate about four hours for install. Also, I was under the impression that you want to wait a few days to a week before alignment to let the car settle.

Here's the deal. Your local shop is not going to be able to do it because you're not supposed to move the car on an uncharged DRC system. It can damage the suspension. In addition, having 2 shops work on the suspension is a no no. If something goes wrong and gets damaged, neither shop is going to take responsibility. They will always blame it on the other shop.

Your best bet is to have Audi do your springs and recharge the system all in one day.

That being said, it's not cheap and unless you install the SS springs, your warranty will be voided. On another note, have you had your DRc recall done yet?

Unfortunately, my drc was replaced a few months ago.
