What is the reality of how much power you can actually add to a stock 4? Im thinking Chip+Exhaust+Filter...what will that get me? Thansk for any help.

At least 55 hp, you also should change the diverter valve. If you wanted to go big you can go for full Stage 3 upgrade(GT28,fueling, tune, downpipes), that would push the car close to 400hp.

Chip - Depends on which type, but most add about 40+ HP and 70ish TQ.
Exhaust - 5-10 HP, if that much
Downpipe - 10-15 HP, 8-10 TQ, this frees up the most restrictive part of the exhaust ... the beginning
Intake - 5ish HP, if that

The new turbo intake from APR, i think, adds some real sick numbers to trump most of these, mostly because it comes with the chipping and a more efficient turbo.

This is simply not true. There have been no reports of the new DV's failing on the B8 forum. In fact, many have indicated that the OEM design is superior to the current aftermarket offerings.

    My bad. Thanks for clarifying.

OP: What were your previous cars? Have you driven any cars that have either the GIAC or APR tune? Since you have an 09, you can do the 30 day free trial period from APR and see how it feels. From there you can add a HFC then upgrade to stage 2 if you go with the APR tune. I have this setup and spent @ $1,300 and it was well worth it

Filter more for sound than performance. If you get 5 actual HP, that would be a lot. ECU flash, FULL exhaust and FMIC would be your easiest/cheapest way to approx 300 HP. ECU flash will net you about 25-30 HP, plus FULL exhaust (with either test pipe or HFC) will net you another 25-30 or so. FMIC I believe is 20 HP ballpark. And don't kid yourself- even though these numbers add up to 70-80 HP, it doesn't not mean you'll be adding 70-80 HP. Each add-on maxes its HP at different RPMs and whatnot, so odd are you may only see 75%-80% of this. That said, short of going APR Stage III, this is the cheapest and fastest way to approx 300 HP, prolly really more like 275...

You must not be familiar with the B8... OEM DV is more than efficient and does NOT need to be replaced. Also, the only "Stage III" out right now is the APR K04. Unless of course I've missed something, which is totally possible...

Forget adding power. Get a set of lightweight 16s, strip the interior, remove the spare, and do P90x.

HFC + Exhaust + FMIC + Stage 2 software, that's about as high as you can go without changing the turbo at this point and no one makes a GT28 kit yet that I know of for this 2.0T. I'm sure you could get one made and have it custom tuned.

Unless you hit the track often, when are you going to use 400hp?
I'm willing to bet you guys are quicker than 95% of what's out there already.
I say just go Stage 1 or 2 and call it a day.
