Will the sedan hood fit inside a sedan?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I need to pick up a hood for my car, but i need to travel about 160 miles to get it. Do any of you guys know if I can fit the hood in my car itself? I have a B6 sedan. Doesn't matter how, as long as i can transport it undamaged. Seats down, anything.

    Appreciate the help.

measure your hood, then measure the trunk clearance with the back seats down genius

The only way I could see that happening is if you:

1: Remove the ass portion of the back seats
2: Put them in the trunk, or leave them at home
3: Try to slide the hood in through the back door, either side
    4: Probably still won't fit
    5: Cut hood in half
    6: Fold down back seats
7: Slide the now 2 pieces of hood in through the trunk
    8: Drive home
9: Weld hood back together, as well as custom Boser it
10: Install hood in reverse of how you removed your OEM hood

If that doesn't work, you could try to cut the hood into fourths. I don't know of any other way...

Take whatever hood is on the car now off. Install new hood when you get there. Problem solved.

Take your hood off, drive there, but hood on. It won't fit anywhere inside.

Absolutely not! </thread>. That is the craziest thing I've ever heard. B6 has no room at all. I couldnt even get a moderately sized flat screen tv in.

You could fit it, if you cut it in half

Seriously, cutting the hood in half is not practical, no one would actually do that, right?

Agreed. I'd go with folding lengthwise.

Better spray a layer of plasti dip on your roof, then you can strap down the new hood on your roof. Problem solved.

Lol. Just to be sure I'd fold it 2 times. Horizontally and vertically like origami.

ship it thru greyhound. i was dropping something off the other day and a dude was picking up a hood for himself. they got the room on a bus apparently. just throw some cardboard around it and have it shipped. probably only like 45 bucks too.

if not any of that.. try "double-hooding" put some towels down over your current hood/fender. then put the new on top of that one, and somehow strap it down. then drive home in the slow lame goin like 35 mph

You shouldn't have given the joke back. Cutting it is definitely not the same thing as folding it. Only a monkey would think that. No welding would be needed with folding.

^noted. I rescind my previous offer.

But seriously, let's be serious for a second, like seriously, and answer OPs question. Cut the hood in half, remove you complete interior except for the drivers seat (if you could drive without it itd be even better), remove trunk, place hood thru the trunk and into the cabin, drive home. Reverse for installation. Problem solved.

hahaha, awesome ideas guys. thanks for the heads up though, didn't even think of uhaul, guess that will have to do.

as for using my cab, i'm pretty sure exposing the hood to the cold elements of the east coast with the top down right now would be damaging, wouldn't want to do that.

There's a dead simple solution to this. Have your B6 converted to Ute, just like Stuart Appleby did with his M5...

No, I've tried it before. Won't fit. It's not even close.
