So i got this yesterday when i was going to work.
Went to work got the code reader from the guy I work with , cleared the code drove home didnt get it, went to go out again last night got it again, cleared it and then got it one more time cleared it. Now it hasnt came back yet.

From what I can see mostly B5 and B6 guys have this issue with there 1.8Ts havent saw anyone with a B7 yet.

What im I've read and need to look into is :

    Timing belt jumped a tooth.

    My question(s):

    Could it be something else?

Now the car isnt running like shit and dosent sound horrid or anything...So i dontthink it has jumped a tooth. Im going to pull the car into the garage and bring the engine to TDC and see if everything matches up.

how many miles on you car? I believe your timing has jumped but try to clear it and go for a ride and see if the cel comes back on to verify it.

So after messing with the car for a while found out it was actually caused by low oil presure! Problems all solved now!

It is almost impossible for a timing belt to slip a tooth. You can only have this code after an incorrect belt replacement.
If you did not touch at your belt, this code is triggered by something else

I am getting this code now. Interested in knowing how you resolved your low oil pressure. Dirty oil filter?

Unlikely. Probably the result of a bad cam chain tensioner. If the plastic guides are missing/broke. they can potentially clog your oil pickup. Won’t necessarily cause an oil pressure light, but can restrict flow enough to cause problems with the VVT system.

If i was getting that code id shut her down till its fixed. Could be minor like n205 or broken timing control rings. But it could also be impending doom if that tensioner lets go

How did you adjust your timing belt? I tried moving the exhaust cam back one tooth and the vehicle wouldn't start. Which way did you move your exhaust cam?

I'm confused to what the fix was for you guys with this code/ oil pressure issues. I've had a cam follower fail, replaced cams, timing chain, tensioners etc. As well as removed all the metal debris, pulled oil pan, replaced pickup tube etc. I'm still have this same issue.

i would suggest starting a new thread with what your exact issues are with as much detail as possible. There is many details that must be looked at before an accurate suggestion can be made. Anything else is people just guessing blindly.

it could be N205 valve failure or exhause cam sprocket installed incorrectly.

Can you specify on how exactly the exhaust cam sprocket can be installed incorrectly? There is a little keeper/insert that ensures there’s only one way it can go on.. right?

Yes, it has a keyway. This thread is also 5+ years old, and that dude was a bit "special"..
Have seen those keyways break before though. That's why it's good to inspect everything when doing a cam chain service. Some people remove cam cradle, but can't go over everything.

lol yeah special sums it up pretty good.. usually the cam stays on the sprocket so its good , its just the timing chain is bit tricky on the sprocket. i had a thread somewhere on this. look for " that's all she wrote" in a search
