i remembering seeing a thread saying they where the same expect for the valence?
i searched and couldnt find it.. i ask because i have a silver s4 and silver a4 and the other day someone pulled in my drive way and hit my bumper didnt do alot of damage just left a nice front license plate impression so i figure if i can swap why not...TIA

While you have both vehicles, I agree with your post, Looks can be deceiving. So rather than wasting your time taking 2 bumpers apart, you wanted to see if anyone had attempted this.

The bumpers will mount on to either car, they are physically different but can be swapped. i have a s4 avant bumper for sale

Just remember, some pre-facelift colors are different (such as silver). Facelift is 2000 and after.

Avant and sedan are not the same bumper. Avant curves down lower where the boot lid meets it. But I am in the market for a nice Silver Avant bumper.

99.5 is face lift, its just a bastard year where it got face lift exterior and pre face lift interior. Either way theres probably like 6 variances of the same paint code of silver so chances are it won't match even if the codes are the same. Best bet is to just have the new bumper repainted, it will probably need blended into the quarters/trunk to match perfect, silver is a bitch to match. Honestly if the old bumper isn't that bad I'd just fix it so you can blend within the bumper. I've blended my rear bumper twice now and it looks like it matches perfect.

I have a 99.5 A4 Avant and it is a complete facelift car. Everything is updated. But there are exceptions to every rule.

It has the symphony radio? That's news to me, they're supposed to have an updated counsel which has the newer climate control but still has the single din concert radio. That's how my buddies sedan was. Maybe the avants are different. The exterior though is all the same from 99.5 and up.

Mine came with the single din. But I swapped in the center console and everything from my parts car S4.
