So does mine ... and mine is genuine. That's the thing with fakes - they make them look like the real thing ;)

    Voltmeter on B8.5 S4

Did anybody with a B8.5 car succeed with the voltmeter mod? I was able to do other mods, including the hidden (AKA green) menu, and used the menu to change the recommended settings, but I cannot access the voltmeter. I am looking at the car settings menu with the oil level selection -- is this the right place?

Did you plug in the cable before loading the software and USB driver? DOH!

Unplug the cable and remove the software <Control Panel><Programs and Features><VCDS......> right click and Uninstall. Then <Windows Driver Package - Ross-Tech Driver......>and uninstall this. Turn off computer and restart.

Reinstall the software and the USB driver. Reboot. Open Ross-Tech VCDS. Select <Options> In Select Port box make sure USB radio button is selected. Now you can plug in the cable to your USB port. Click the <Test> button. When finished click the <Save> button. Press <ESC> to return to the main menu screen. Plug the cable into the jack on the car. With your foot off the brake pedal, push in the key. Now run auto-scan. Now you are working.

I think most genuine cables have a velcro cord management strap that has Ross-Tech woven into the fabric. The clones omit this.

Is this in reply to my B8.5 voltmeter mod question? If so, looks like it is not just me, but the mod does not work for B8.5

I have done quite a few of the mods on here.
I just cannot get the beeping to stop when the car is running, and the door is open.
I have disabled all key alerts, but its still beeping.
Running or not. If the ignition is on, and the door is open.

To get the windows to go down with the remote make sure that the pinch protection hasn't been tripped. i.e. make sure that all the windows go up with a single touch. Mine stopped going up with the remote and found this out by happenstance.

RE: After-wipe - If I remember correctly, when you use your windshield washer feature it sprays and wipes three times, then the wipers stop for a few seconds and swipe once more. This mod eliminates that extra wipe. Someone correct me if I am wrong....I know I did this mod, but I'm not 100% sure that the extra wipe occurred when using the windshield washer feature.

Thanks for the tips on the window, I will check that out. I thought it was kinda strange since I ran into the same issue on a previous a6 I had.

As for the DRL intensity, I like to drive around with the fogs and DRL's on, and I like the fact the LED's stay bright. I know it is a little silly, but who on here doesn't have little things they like about their cars.

Mattchat, I noticed you did the OE springs, and I was wondering how much drop you saw after you we're finished? I am kicking around the idea of getting then since I had the VMR's installed.

here is the one thing I can't figure them out,

The MMI used to pop slide out for the heat seat and ac temperature setting change disappear
(when adjusting the heater, fan controls or heated seats, the pop slide out MMI info screen on both driver and passenger side)
    no more pop slide out......

    Is there anything I missed?
or any way to reset everything back to factory,
so I can re do everything again?

    2012 B8 S4 Canada,
    Ross-Tech cable.......

    I was @@?
but I changed back (due to "Enable Auxiliary ventilation" wasn't working on my car)
Are both bit3 and bit4 related to the pop out ? (when adjusting the heater, fan controls or heated seats, the pop slide out MMI info screen on both driver and passenger side)

thank you for for your time !!

I just quote what David has documented in his DIY - and it read:

Go to Byte 1 and check off bit 3. I'm unsure of the 2G but for the 3G you have to have bit 4 selected in order to control the heater controls on the MMI screen.
MMI 2G = bit 4 doesn't need to be set.
MMI 3G = bit 4 need to be set.

Please note, I'm not trying to steal or take credit for these mods, I've simply used the information available throughout the web and tried to bring them in a central place. Your help in filling in a few blanks and validating my info would be appreciated.

*Suggestion: Print this and check off the mods you've activated and store it with your owner's manual - Will come handy when you need to re-do the coding after an ECU flash.

Again, I take no credit for this information, most of the above is available on these forums and specialty websites as well as Ross-Tech's support pages. I only wanted to group all the info of the pertinant VCDS mods to our S4.

Not all the above has been verified, I'll be happy to re-edit this post to correct any info.
Oh and I'm not responsible for any screw ups this causes, good luck.

Can I get a few volunteers to nominate this post as a sticky?
I'm from Hong Kong, I would like to know whether I can follow this to set my S5 sportback (V6 3.0)?

Trying to reset some settings in the steering assist module and it will not let me do so without a security code. I called my head tech at the dealership and he said they don't get these anymore, they are just automtically populated by VIN number when they run the software flashes at the dealership. He and i discussed resetting some steering adaptations to look for a band-aid fix for the 2013 electric steering assist issues.

Anyone have any ideas as to how to determine the proper security code? When I hit it I also get a message that says to check the "service manual" for the code. I have actually purchased a full service manual for my car (because i like to have them) but it is taking FOREVER to download as it's a 3.7GB file!

Anyone have any thoughts on this.

It only changes the brightness when the headlights are on.. It doesn't change the DRL brightness since it's already set at 100%. The beams are suppose to dim when the headlights come on, and it actually looks stupid having them brighter than factory. I did not realize this fact when I originally changed mine and have since reversed the mod. The effectiveness of the LED lights when your headlights are on is negligible. The light washes out everywhere and is really distracting to oncoming drivers. I strongly recommend putting it no higher than 40%.

Thanks for the heads up...I thought it was making them brighter with the headlights off. On a side note...I seem to have messed up my high beems and can't get them to stay on without holding the lever back. Anyone know how to fix this? They work when I put "high beem assist installed" on but I get an error message everytime I turn the ignition on because I don't have high beem assist.
