winter-time is modding time. changes for 2k11

hey guys it's been a while that i posted here, was in trouble for the last weeks but now i want to show you what i am currently working on.

here are the plans for this winter:

- paint the lemans in standox alushine
- paint grill, rear-valance insert and some more parts shiny black
- get wider fenders (about 4cm) in order to drop that b*** on the floor again
- paint headlights
- change the brakes in the front to cayenne calipers with mercedes g-class discs
- polished or tan leather rollcage
- some more detail work

at first i wanted a complete repaint of the car, but because of not having enough time for it i will leave it the way it is and just paint the new parts.

here are some of the pics:

new, widened fenders fresh outta box (made with gfk, fitting like the oem-ones)

thought they might be to thin, so i decided to ad two more layers of gfk to them:

well, that's it for now. parts are at the painter right now. i think i should get em back next week. i'll keep you updated

Wait, you put your headlights in the oven in the backround to heat them??? lol

Yeah, have to heat em up so that the glue melts and the glas can be removed.

Yeah, I was gonna say can't you just use a heat gun? But idk, I've never done I. What temp do you put it in the oven for, and how long? Lol

Well i think the heatgun will Not work very well, you have to Heat up the whole part for it. I had it in the oven for 15 minutes at 75 degress celsius.

Yeah idk man. I've never tried it before, but I would have never thought of putting it in the oven. I would have thought it would melt the plastics. I guess not. Lol

people put them in the oven all the time to get them apart... The heat gun is good too, but im always afraid of melting something... it can happen quick if your not careful.. the oven is a good way to heat everything evenly.. Im getting ready to take mine apart soon to get rid of those orange reflectors... yuck! ;)

painter has finished his work, just waiting for three more parts :)

bumber cover is not needed, oem bumper lines up well with the new fenders

after hours and hours in the garage, thinks get together again. alignment still needs to be done, also we will have to realign the fenders again in spring when its warmer outside. i think then i will be satisfied.

the problem was, that the paint (alu-shine from standox) shipped away under the bolts (only 28nm as needed), so we decided to make the best of it and polish the whole area
