Why does my Service! light keep coming on?

Every time I start the car, it says Service!

I recently had the oil changed, the Oil Life Meter was reset, after 1000KMS or so, it shows Service! again.

What else does this Service! indicator apply to besides Oil Life? Is there service required???

It's a time interval. It's set by the Audi tech that last worked on the car.

Searched for "service light" and this came up in a bunch of threads...

Re: service light
1. Key in the ignition, but don't turn it yet.
2. Hold down the wrench button.
3. While holding that button, turn the key to the on position (don't need to start the car)
4. Let go of wrench and hit the 0,0 button

That will reset it. Pretty sure it's in the manual as well.

No you're missing what I am saying... It is RESET. It shows the - beside time and milage for the first 1000 or so KMS or few days of driving..

My Issue is, even though it was reset properly, It goes back to SERVICE! after 1000K or a Few days of driving for me..

We are still not communicating properly.

I have personally RESET the computer about a half dozen times, and it ALWAYS goes back to SERVICE! within a few days...

Are you saying he set a Time interval of 3 days? How do I set it back to normal? The regular Reset procedure does not work

You can reset your service interval to different distances. You guys need to work on your comm skills

What does your DIS say when u hit the service button? Mine usually says how long until service is needed, like 500 miles or 250 days or something like that.

It shows dashes for the first few days. apparently it has to calibrate based on how you drive, then it should show you how long you have until the next service. Mine goes right to SERVICE! after 2 days of showing the dashes

id probly just take it to the dealer, i'd hook it up to a vag-com and get into the service options, i bet its in there i just dont know exactly which 1 it is
