Brushed Aluminum Mirror Cap

I always think the brushed aluminum mirror looks great on black B8s, like on an S4. I saw a few posts about using vinyl for interior trims. How feasible is it to use brushed aluminum vinyl wrap for changing the exterior look? Any recommendations on where to get them ?

Sounds like it is worth a shot.

However sourcing faux aluminum vinyl large enough to wrap the mirror caps without seems would probably require going to a local professional vinyl shop.

not sure about the b8's. but any b6 or b7 made after MY 2004 has painted mirror caps. they look like real aluminum. you'd just have to source the paint code

Yea, it's possible......there's one paint shop in Taiwan which makes of it......I will share the link with u guys tmr morning, coz I couldn't access that site in company now.

I've seen real aluminium ones go for as much as $700, which is ridiculous if you ask me...but I guess it wouldn't be there if there weren't any demand.

2009 and 2010 mirrors are different in size.

The price is right, but I don't think this is the right look for mirror caps.

This stuff has the grain/veins like you would see on appliances or interior trim.

Mirror caps are usually smooth with no "texture".

Too boot, that would be a bitch to get all the grain/vein lines straight on the contours of the mirrors.

Another cheaper option for those interested would be to buy some stock unpainted/primed mirror caps, and try and source some aluminum paint.

Hobby shops are a great place to find all kinds of metal colored paints.

my wife just bought me a pair from ebay.de 2010 s4 b8 mirror covers< i cant wait to get them! i tried the vinyl thing and failed... the wrap is too curvy and this type of vinyl doesn't mold with heat.... i did it on the front splitter between the fog lights

The point is that they changed the mirrors starting with 2010 cars. No mirror caps in the world will fit 2008-2010.

Wah...can you please post up some pics and also share what type of paint you used? I wouldn't mind trying this DIY. $700+ for Aluminum mirror caps is a bit steep since I just like the color/look, I don't really care if its aluminum or not.
