    Nice. Congrats. Any torque graphs?

Subjectively, are you happy with it?

Sorry no torque graphs... Yeah im happy... The guy showed me the comparison and it goes +20 hp... 20... and then +50hp but only at the end... So the chip really kicks in is at really high revs.

Very nice. What was the estimate for drivetrain loss? ~10%?

Also, did you get this installed at a shop/dealer? What was the total cost?

is the stasis tune just a rebadged apr product?

taking a look at the whole area under the curve from your graph, it seems like the stasis tune doesn't provide any gains in the lower rpms. something doesn't seem right...

wait so with exhaust and intake only, your car is making 345whp? and the chip gains just another 40whp for a whopping 385whp on a detuned version of the apr software? either your car is a freak or something definitely isn't right

odd that these charts are done with the speed as x-axis

The charts are not by RPM. They're by speed. None of the previous charts we've seen for this car were done by speed.

Not a very good dyno plot for comparison, since it has no engine RPM listed (converted MPH). Obviously the WHP scaling looks erroneous 345WHP stock????

The APR ECU 93 octane dyno plots shows some HP improvement below 5k RPM, but this 91 octane Stasis ECU dyno, seems to indicate NO improvement below 5k RPM. Most likely, below 5k RPM, the APR ECU tune HP increase is due to additional ignition advance on 93 octane or higher tune/fuel.

    seems about 40 hp high.

the delta looks right. I didn't think it would make any down below....the effects would be only from timing..and on 91 tune that isn't much

    @madmadS4

Sorry I probably asked/posed the question incorrectly.

    My question...

The dyno is reporting HP at the wheels (regardless FWD, RWD, AWD), right? So Statis advertises 410 hp, which would be at the crank, right?

If both the above are correct and the estimated drivetrain loss is 10% (which I believe is low for AWD), then he would be meeting or exceeding Statis' advertised HP figure.

His at the wheel HP was 385 + 10% drivetrain loss or 423.5 HP at the crank so + 13.5 HP from Statis' advertised HP rating.

    Again I'm asking, not telling.

    Cheers,

From what I remember, APR believes the car is in the 20-22% DTL range. Can't find the appropriate thread at the moment though...

Bruce's 0.02. Stasis measured the B8 S4 stock and called that number 333 CHP. Therefore, their tune is relative to this. On the other hand, APR said stock B8 S4 is about 327 WHP and their tune is 362 WHP.

Thats what I said. That's it why I dyno my car twice in two different places. I'll post the chart in a second.

Yes... They did it with the speed because he said that he couldn't connect the cables to the rpm because the thing was underneath the supercharger. I'm not sure how that works exactly.

Btw, when calculating chp from whp you don't multiply the whp with 1.1 but you divide the whp with 0.9 (in case of 10% loss). Whp is the hp with loss aka 90% in this case.

For those the stasis tune does not provide any gains below 5k remember this is only a single datapoint.

A user on AW made a set of before and after dyno runs as well and it shows the same midrange gains as the APR dynos we've seen.

Yes, I agree. Just providing correct equation to convert whp to chp with a known drive train loss.

OP: Congrats, that extra oomph must be very noticeable. Thanks for sharing.

The gain sounds good to me, considering how much it costs it add 40whp to a car and maintain the warranty status (even if it is supplemental from Stasis and not Audi).

Actually, fairly similar to Dinan's warrantied upgrade for BMW. They advertise 60 crankhp (probably high 40's whp) for $2000.

I'm still on the fence whether to go with Stasis or holdoff and get APR when our (future) S4 is off warranty. decisions, decisions...

Actually, fairly similar to Dinan's warrantied upgrade for BMW. They advertise 60 crankhp (probably high 40's whp) for $2000.

I'm still on the fence whether to go with Stasis or holdoff and get APR when our (future) S4 is off warranty. decisions, decisions...

    najjar22,

Was the dyno run with 91 octane fuel or 93 octane fuel?

What would you do for a 40whp gain for cheaper?

The aftermarket exhaust or intake don't seem to be any better dollar value for HP. The high flow cat gets expensive, with install cost. The aftermarket header is much larger dollar investment. Higher octane fuel with approprate ECU tune are probably the most cost effective modification, though 100 octane is not cheap to run. In some areas of the country, the higher octane fuel is not so available.

I'd argue that a methanol kit would be better than 100 octane. Once installed, you have 'race gas' whenever you want. Either methanol or NOS would be more bang for the buck than exhaust or intake.

Aftermarket exhaust is about power to a very small degree... its 95% about the sound.

NOS is a little flaky & requires the pressured bottle. The methanol, is fine if enough safety measures are in place, but run out of methanol at the wrong time and look out. I don't consider either to be reliable enough for day to day street driving.

Mad, With 100 tune I am .4 and 5mph in the 1/4 faster than the nearest B8 S4, at least the ones that post.... I am .5 and 6mph faster than the nearest DSG S4, that posts..... You won't see that much from a water/meth kit.... Also, like wwhan mentioned run out of meth and it could be trouble.... I feel better knowing I have 100 in the tank.... I guess will see how water/meth and 100 helps in the spring.... Along, with HFC's, pulley, etc..... Can't f***ing wait! 11.5X's???

If you use the stock fluid reservoir you'll get a light on the dash that the fluid is low, and can either fill up again or change back to the 91/93 tune. Thousands of cars run it with 0 problems. The ones you hear about catastrophically failing are running absurd boost and timing for every last drop of HP on custom tunes.

The problem is not running out of Meth. The problem is a failure in the delivery system. Most water/meth kits don't come with properly rated hose, automotive quality pumps, electronic safeties integrated into the ems, etc.

ANY calibration that is made for 100 oct and above that relies on meth as an octane additive is exposed to catastrophic engine failure from a simple lawn sprinkler pump failure. These cars ARE NOT wildly tuned. They are merely trying to take advantage of SOME of the extra power available from the extra knock resistance provided by meth injection. Have a hose pop off the nozzle or pump, have a pump failure, etc. and its bye-bye engine unless you are running a calibration with the rated octane fuel you have in the tank and then you don't really get as much benefit from the meth injection because the extra octane is already there.

Chemical intercooling, that's where its at. Meth not used for fueling but for intercooling. Expect 15-20hp and trq on whatever calibration with the rated octane gas in the tank and be happy.
