    Best/Most Prefered Coilovers for B7 A4

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I searched and was surprised that I could not find a thread on this. What aftermarket coilovers are the best for our cars?
By best I mean best ride quality, least bouncyness, how low you can safely go on them, and price/bang for your buck.
So far the main groups its between is H&R's, KW V2/3's, or Koni's. I also saw in the classified ST's and TIEN's which Ive never heard or seen so I was wondering about them too.
If you guys could post up pics of your stance and LMK what coils your running/what height, Id really appreciate your help in making this decision. Also if youve got any horror stories about one of them, that would be helpful info (for instance, Ive heard KW V1's and somewhat V2's have a pretty bouncy ride).

FYI... Im not really interested in springs so just keep it on topic with these main brands of coils.
Thanks a lot and if there is another thread about this that I for some reason couldnt find, feel free to rip me apart and post the link right here VVVVVVV

all depends on how much you want to spend

    http://www.europaparts.com/stasis-oh..._store=default

probably one of the best suspension kits out there, but again, if price is a factor, then theres many other choices

Price is definitely a factor within reason haha. Im pretty much looking to spend between 600-900 on used coils from whoever I can find. Im not looking for top of the line and not looking for shitty ones. Somewhere in the middle

I believe stassis and bilstein seem to be the preferred. What I'm going to get in the spring at least.

Take a look in here if you haven't already.

$600-$900? That's gonna be tough. I'd save for a little while longer and get a new set of decent coilovers. Pss9's are a solid choice, but will run you close to $2k. Stasis SS are another good bang for the buck set of coilovers that can be had for $1200-1300.

    PSS9's are Bilstien coilovers
    http://uspmotorsports.com/product_in...roducts_id=595

still kind of pricey though but are very good coils

your looking at KW V1's and ST's for your price range (only difference between the two is galvanized steel on the ST's and stainless steel on the V1's)

other than that, they are identical

the stasis ss might be your best choice like stated above but your looking at ~$1200

Our Vogtland coilovers have always been a very popular choice on the B6/B7 models thanks to their ease of height adjustable. MUUCH easier to adjust than H&R or KONI coilovers.

We just installed the ST Coilovers on a B7 A4 2.0T Quattro last week and they are a wonderful setup for the money! They're essentially KW V1's with a galvanized steel shock body instead of aluminum.

We've got them on special right now...you've got PM!

Best bang for the buck is the Stasis Ohlins SL's. Near Motorsport level performance for a lot less. Granted, its still in the $2k range, but its a great setup. If you're looking to spend less, the Streetsports are a great option as well. Both sets of coils are on sale as well btw.

just putting it out there, i have VMAXX coils and while i have heard bad things about them, they have never failed me, and the ride difference was not noticeable from stock

if you are getting coils for the sole purpose of going low and wanting a similar to stock ride feel i would suggest the VMAXX coils

    Agreed.

If you want great CO's you're going to pay for them, and at the end of the day it is what you want. Some people like the harsher ride that most CO's offer. I don't, but want to have the ability to adjust it if I ever go to a track. For daily driving however, I want luxury-vehicle-like ride comfort, but a better stance and handling when I decide to drive spiritedly.

I've driven on the Ohlins SL setup and they make the car handle like a dream. The ride quality is better than my OEM non-sport suspension, yet is not floaty and the car handles the way I would expect it too. After I test drove the stasis demo car with those on it, I knew I didn't need to look at any other CO's.

And that's why they cost $2400.

^^^ Answered part of my question but I've been on the hunt for coils too. I started looking at the Koni/Stasis SS

My question is more about ride comfort. I am running the S-line suspension right now so I really only need about another 1.5 inch drop for daily driving but wanna be able to take it lower for show. Which coil has the most compliant ride? I realize thats a subjective question, but I have a wife to keep happy here too!

I'm probably one of a handful running Teins, and I always rep them because they were cheap and even the service techs compliment my car on how well it rides. Tein is more well known in jdm applications, so i decided to try them out. I got the basics for like 700 new.

If you worried about ride quality, least bounce make sure you get a set that have adjustable dampers. Pretty much all co's will get you low but if you want to eliminate the bounce and have a good ride you need to adjust the dampers. You should look into TEIN SS if your on budget or KW V2 or PSS9 if you want a better set.

that's actually pretty reasonable for a used set of good coilovers

this may sound odd to some, but check out D2 coils. yeah they're perhaps not the easiest to install but from what I gather it's not that bad of a setup. one of the pro's is that you can adjust camber. I'd call Velocity Motoring guys ( VMR ) they had some a while back and I remember them being decently priced.
my car is still on AZ... someone else is just driving it (BMO).

Used sure. Would you buy used coilovers though? I wouldn't even consider that...especially if a new set would only run a few hundred more.
