Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm thinking about getting these from ECSTuning:

ARe they a pretty safe mod? I remember hearing about some bulbs melting housings and such.

The yellow bulbs are excellent for rain and foggy weather. At 55 watts they will not melt the housing. Much better than white light or HIDs which cause ungodly amounts of glare due to the significant blue shift in the output light spectrum. There are some very low temperature HIDs that will work well too. If you go the HID route keep the temperature below 3500 degrees Kelvin.

^^ I agree my yellow fogs seriously help me out
when it is real foggy, or raining. These bulbs should
be fine, I know other b7ers use them. I never heard
    of them melting anything.

Please don't HID the fogs. Please. Pretty please. It looks like crap and blinds oncoming traffic

I run the Hoen Endurance fogs (yellow also). Cheap, and knock on wood, long life (going on 3 years with mine).

I agree. I don't think HID's in the fog's are as bad as in halogen's. Since they are so much lower to the ground, and they are smaller housings.
They don't shoot out as far. My fogs really aren't any different than how bright my Xenon's project.

I've been running these for a while now no melted housings and such...pain in the ass to take the bumper off to get to the bulbs though. I also changed my city lights w/ piaa yellow wedge bulb. Do the city light w/ fog mod and your golden.

What about yellow film? Will do the same job and won't burn out. Taking off the bumper to replace a bulb isn't so fun

^ oo thats gotta suck. Non-sline =// I hear if you find someone with small hands they can squeeze in there though.. I have the hoen h11 xenonmatch ones, not a PERFECT match but they look pretty sexy. Was thinking about switching to the yellow ones though for visibility reasons. And have never heard of them melting the housings either.

Originally i tried to lay the yellow film down, but failed to get it to adhere to the fog housing as it has many different curves and i wasn't patient enough to lay it correctly; gave up shortly after. Also you would need to remove the bumper to get to the fog anyway as the fog shroud on the bumper prevent you from laying the film all the way to the edge.

I have pretty small hands and wrists...after 30 mins of getting my forearm scratched up i gave in and removed the front bumper. Removing of the front bumper also allows you to black out your grill surround if you want to, and do the CC! I did all three in one shot.

    thanks for the feedback all.

I purchased them. My b7 is a 2008 which has the s-line exterior so I shouldn't have to remove the bumper. I also looked at the laminex but that makes the housing yellow all the time which I'm not sure if I like or not.

KiddEng - that's a good idea, where did you get your yellow city light bulbs from?

EDIT: Are these the correct city lights? http://www.shopatron.com/products/pr...PIA19173/353.0

Lucky you w/ the sline bumper..makes changing the bulbs that much easier. Im with you on not having yellow fog housing all the time, i like the clear look by day.

As for the PiAA yellow bulbs, i forgot which number wedge type they were...but i checked in the B7 Mod/Sticky thread and looked for the bulb type number there. They were the PIAA ion yellow wedge bulbs and got them off ebay.

The only pics i have are the ones under my name in the member gallery, i'll try to get some night/dusk shots w/ just the fogs and city lights on soon!

uhh, i went out and tried pulling out the h11 fog bulb threw the fog housing on the s-line bumper. Good luck with that, i managed to grap the bulb but wasn't able to turn it. I doubt that if i can manage to take it off putting a new bulb and blindly trying to put it back into the housing isn't worth the effort.

How do you guys manage to change the fog without taking off the bumper? Going underneath? Any ideas?

you dont in most cases, unless you have small hands and really skinny wrists.....just take the bumper off, it really isnt that hard and doesnt take that long as long as you have all the right tools, yesterday it too me a long time, but then i realized i needed a depp 10mm sock, once i went and got one, it was off in 10 minutes

I'm running Piaa Ion yellow wedge bulbs that are off of ebay (think the link was posted above). I don't remember what the wedge type number they were, you can check the B7 FAQ thread for the #.
