The new Audi A6 Sedan: setting the standard in innovation
    December 1, 2010 - Audi AG

Audi has redesigned its flagship executive class model. The new A6 is set to make its market debut in early 2011. With its light body, sporty chassis and a wide array of new assistance and multimedia systems, the full-sized sedan is packed with innovative solutions in every area of technology. The range of available engines and drivetrains is equally extensive. Combining the power of a V6 with the fuel efficiency of a four-cylinder engine, the soon-to-be-available A6 hybrid will be one highlight of the lineup.

Much of the body of the new Audi A6 consists of aluminum and high-tech steels, rendering it exceedingly light, stiff and safe. State-of-the art design methods and materials ensure extremely low interior noise levels. Precision tuning of all components and systematic hydraulic damping in the axle and drivetrain bearings provide excellent vibrational comfort.

The design of the new Audi A6 embodies athleticism and elegance. The sedan is 4.92 meters (16.14 ft) long and 1.87 meters (6.14 ft) wide, but just 1.46 meters (4.79 ft) high - sporty proportions that are unrivaled by the competition. The long engine hood, the low, sweeping roofline and the prominent lines on the flanks create a dynamic overall appearance. Optional LED headlights emphasize the striking expression at the front. YES and NO! I like the bumper, don't care for the grill. I need to see the headlights in person... The creases in the hood remind me of a BMW, fail. Side lower body looks like a skirt, or is it molded that way? Need to see this car in person... with an S Line package. Lighter weight is always nice. Hydralic damping in drivetrain could end up with a sloppy, squishy feel if pressed hard. I've heard 3G MMI can be a pain to mod at the moment... I'm sure that'll change. Rear end looks like it has a chunk bitten out of it... Hopefully the US can get a TDI option for once!

Hmm well lets hope it doesn't end up on ConsumerReports 'Worst German Car Made" as the previous A6s were named. But I don't see it getting anywhere as VW/Audi Group is 4th from the bottom on reliability. This design is so old already. Looks like crap, or actually it looks like a over sized 2011 Jetta specially from the back. This design was nice on the over-priced R8 but this? Common, its crap. And setting what standard? Cause for over the last 10 years CarandDriver, Edmunds, and Motortrend have all chosen BMW 5-Series and Mercedes E-Class. BMW has been setting the benchmark in this class, Mercedes is best of both worlds but no where near as fun or sporty as a BM. Audi is optimistic with its new line up. Seems like the designer BMW (Chris Bangle) dropped, Audi has managed to pick up. Anyway I rest my case. Its proven audi is no where near its competition and its sales show that also being not even HALF that of Mercedes nor BMW. Good day pps

I think they should've stuck with the much more distinctive linear style LEDs which gives the A6 its unique look. I have mixed feelings with this style of headlights.. makes it look like a copy cat of the A8. The grill, its alright. But of course, its still an Audi and people's perspective would change soon anyway. My 2 cents. On the other hand, i'd still rock it!

^ Agreed, it was nice when each Audi has an LED, but each was unique. Now they all have the same squiggly.
