    245 or 255 tires on 18x8.5 wheels?

Has anyone run 255/35/18's on 18x8.5's? What offset? Is there any chance of rubbing with a stock or only slightly lowered suspension?

I am in the process of ordering new wheels/tires for my B6. I don't like the stretched look at all, I prefer my tires to be more "ballooned" from the wheels but the VMR's only come in 8.5 rather than 8 so I am considering a 245 or 255 width tire.

    i say 245 is max on a 8.5" wheel. But i think a 235 fits much better

Sounds like 245 is the tire for you. 255 will be too wide.

I have 235s on my OEM 18x8s and they look "ballooned". I wouldn't go any wider than a 245; it will look meaty.

A half an inch isn't that big of a difference.

Why did you choose the ET45? It looks like ET35. According to my reseller, ET35 is recommended for B6, however my stock is ET42 which makes me concerned about how this will affect scrub radius, centering, etc.

I'm thinking about going with ET45 and getting 5mm spacer to bring it to ET40 right in the middle.

I ran a set of Toyo TR1 and Vredestein Sessanta 255/35/18 tires on 18x8.5 ET43 wheel. No rubbing whatsoever. Lowered setup.

Those look great, and once again a much different offset, in your impression, does it drive differently with ET43 vs ET35?

Felt slightly different due to wider rubber. You won't feel a difference between an ET43 wheel and ET35 wheel. For what it's worth I went back to the BBS CH 18x8.5 ET35 wheels running 235/40/18 rubber. I simply liked the CH's more although it was kinda cool freaking people out with the fact that I run 255 rubber.

I see, I'm suprised the offset doesn't make a noticeable difference in highway centering and wandering considering the geometric change it makes to the caster and scrub.

I loved when i had 255/40 on my 17x8 wheels vs my 235/45 on my 17x8 wheels.. I would go with 255's on a 8.5" wheel. I also had Et35

It was an impulse buy 2 days before H20. I guy i know called me offered $600 cash for my sport edition wheels, so i called a kid on Vortex selling these and picked them up on my way home. et 45 was what he had but i knew spacers would help out. Plus they matched the new matte black roof and hood.
    - They look like et35 cause i have a 12mm spacer in the rear and 10mm spacer in the front. But soon going to 20mmR spacer and 15mmF spacer. Unless i sell for some new shoes i have in mind for the winter
