    Stock Eagle LS in Snow?

Forgive me if this has been covered, but I'd like to get some feedback from you guys. I'll be hitting the SoCal mountains this year and my previous car was a Yukon. My question is how good or bad are the stock Goodyear Eagle LS in snow? I live on SoCal so I'll only see (if I'm lucky) snow 5 times, and I'm not sure if I need to invest in full snow tires of if I can just throw on my OEM's and head to the mountains? Is the Quattro system good enough with OEM or is it only as good as the rubber on the car?

Do you have the LS or LS2. Either way I have the LS2 and iv been through a heavy blizzard with them and running great no problem at all the quattro helps out a lot as well. They only thing is it's a all season tire and if you use them in the summer they wear down quick, that being said they are 200 a pop. Nice to have if you only use them for the winter.

I don't know how they'd do in that kind of snow. But in the weak ass snow we get here mine did fine even while near the end of their usage/life. Real snow could be different.

I was wondering the same thing, as I have the UHP Summer Pirelli Cinturato P7, and was wondering how I should go about it if I decide to go snowboarding and found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlYEMH10Z4s

After seeing that, I'm not sure how much help quattro will be, even with All-Season tires. So I think I'm just gonna have to use chains, you should probably do the same if you're unsure.

^^^great vid. I am about to replace my LS2s with Michelin Pilot all seasons. I have about 53,000kms on the LS2s and have heard there are some wear issues with these tires which escalated the replacement. I plan to go through our Canadian winter with the Michelins.....but didn't feel too comfortable leaving the LS2s on since I only had about 20% tread left on them! I try to avoid driving in any real snow accumulation and have had no issue with keeping the all seasons on through the winter, but if you are doing a lot of driving in the snow best to get the snows.

the ls2's can handle snow, just nowhere near as well as a dedicated winter tire. i didnt have time to replace them before the first storm last winter and they would lose grip without pushing them much, but you'll get around fine. once i changed them to some blizzaks though, it was night and day. quattro and a good set of winter tires cant be beat in snow.

either way, i dont like the ls2's at all and i'm glad i'm done with them.
