Getting into car with dead battery & doors locked?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I went to drive my car tonight and much to my surprise, my battery seems to be dead. The alarm is "set"(the light on the door is solid red instead of flashing) and the doors are locked. My key fob doesn't work either(obviously). I have tried putting my key in the driver's door to unlock manually but that doesn't even work. The key turns but doesn't unlock. The key opens the trunk, however. Does this mean I only have a valet key? I only looked briefly but it doesn't appear that we can get into our cars from the trunk. Hopefully I am mistaken. If I can, I'll just pop the hood and charge the battery.

    Help me??

if its on the fob, its not a valet key. it should unlock regardless of the alarm. if it doesn't unlock, your mechanism may be jacked-in which case your SOL.

Not unless you can somehow remove the seat backs, which needs to be done from inside the car. That is really weird though that manual won't do it. Is it the key in your fob? Cause if so that really should do it.

yep, key in the fob, it turns but nothing unlocks. I don't even know how to go about dealing with this, do I have to break the window and pop the hood just to charge the battery?

even with dead/disconnected the keyblade locks and unlocks the doors so it sounds like your locking mechanism is trashed

You might have to. Cause the seat backs need to be folded down to remove them, so you're not gonna get in through the trunk. And if you're key doesn't work, i don't know what else you really can do.

Put your key in the door lock, turn counter clockwise to unlock position. Continue to hold in unlock position and see if you have enough power to roll down your windows.

well apparently my dad was able to get in through the ski hole in the head of the trunk enough to unlatch the rear seat. We will throw the charger on overnight. Phew, I did not want to break a window.

I still don't know why my key doesn't unlock my door either. Also, it never rolled down my windows like my B5 did.

Where is this ski bag hole? Is it that plastic door behind the rear armrest/cupholders/first aid kit? I didn't know that's what it was, but it makes perfect sense now lol.

And that's awesome that you got it. Saved a whole lot of hassle.

Lol mine doesn't have a ski bag hole... I was just about to say you should just use the key to roll the windows down.

Your key should unlock the door manually, if it doesn't your mechanism is broken.

You can also pop the hood latch from underneath the car if you have a very long screwdriver so you can get to the battery.

I haven't had much success with slim jims on newer vag products... especially the audi that doesn't have an actual lock exposed. Most of the time the lock on vw/audi are behind the window parts so you can't get to it.
