APR Presents: Audi B8 A4 2.0 TFSI Dual Exit, Quad Tip Turboback & Catback Exhaust!

    PRODUCT PAGE

Reflective Sound Cancellation allows for maximum exhaust gas flow while completely eliminating in cabin
sound resonance (drone). RSC™ incorporates innovative technologies developed in conjunction with NASA.
With limited use of packing materials and no baffles, RSC™ allows for a completely straight and free flowing
exhaust path through the RSC™ mufflers. Reflective Cancellation bounces the undesirable sound waves into
each other to attenuate the wave and completely eliminate the low frequency tones that create drone.
Each RSC™ muffler is tuned to eliminate specific, undesirable sound frequencies allowing only the engine's
desirable exhaust notes to be heard and improving performance.

3" Design with High Flow Catalytic Converters

APR's 3 inch downpipe with high flow catalyst for the A4 2.0 TFSI is the first true downpipe for the A4 and
the only one that incorporates traditional exhaust performance tuning for the new 2.0 TFSI engine. Other 2.0
TFSI engine applications outside of the A4 chassis have historically enjoyed the following benefits that have
never before been made available to A4 owners:

-3 inch Exhaust Tubing Diameter beginning at the Turbocharger Exit for Maximum Turbocharger Spool and
    Peak Horsepower

-Relocation of the Catalyst to Reduce Backpressure and Turbulent Airflow at the Turbocharger

-Incorporation of a 200 Cell Count Catalyst to aid in Turbocharger Spool and Remove Restriction

-Considerable Increases in Peak Horsepower, Peak Torque and Fuel Economy

APR is proud to offer the only true 3 inch full length downpipe available for the 2.0 TFSI A4 which delivers true exhaust Performance Without Compromise.

By utilizing a straight though design, APR is able to maximize power gains when coupled with APR’s Stage 2 ECU
Upgrade without uncomfortable levels of exhaust drone while cruising.

During our development we discovered the exhaust systems flowed so well modifications to the software were
absolutely required when using the new RSC systems. Spool time was significantly decreased and would result in
a rather large overshoot of requested load levels which would cause the throttle to close. This can only be eliminated
by properly recalibrating the engine software to match the hardware changes and APR’s Stage 2 ECU Upgrade is born.

The benefits of APR’s Stage 2 ECU Upgrade with APR’s RSC Dual Exit Full Exhaust System are as follows:

    1. Turbocharger Boost Onset Reduced by Over 400 rpm’s!

    2. Peak Torque is Increased by Over 100 lb ft when Compared to Stock Exhaust and Programming and by
Over 70 lb ft when Compared to APR’s Stage 1 ECU Upgrade and Stock Exhaust!

    3. Peak Horsepower is Increased by Over 50hp when Compared to Stock Exhaust and Programming and by
29hp when Compared to APR’s Stage 1 ECU Upgrade and Stock Exhaust!

We tested both our Dual Exit and Single Exit RSC Exhaust Systems and found the Dual Exit RSC System to
deliver slightly more horsepower in the higher rpm’s as expected.

Now for the numbers as measured by APR!

    Stock – 212 HP & 260 TQ

    Stage 1 91 Octane – 229 HP & 323 TQ
    Stage 2 91 Octane – 239 HP & 353 TQ

    Stage 1 93 Octane – 234 HP & 333 TQ
    Stage 2 93 Octane – 242 HP & 362 TQ

    Stage 1 100 Octane – 268 HP & 338 TQ
    Stage 2 100 Octane – 270 HP & 380 TQ

The most impressive aspect of APR’s Stage 1 and 2 ECU Upgrades are the gains they make over
    stock at different RPM’s:

    Stage 1 91 Octane – 35 HP @ 5500 RPM & 64 TQ @ 2250 RPM
    Stage 2 91 Octane – 43 HP @ 2650 RPM & 86 TQ @ 2650 RPM

    Stage 1 93 Octane – 40 HP @ 5500 RPM & 74 TQ @ 2250 RPM
    Stage 2 93 Octane – 46 HP @ 2550 RPM & 95 TQ @ 2550 RPM

    Stage 1 100 Octane – 62 HP @ 5500 RPM & 78 TQ @ 2500 RPM
    Stage 2 100 Octane – 64 HP @ 5550 RPM & 114 TQ @ 2650 RPM

    Dyno Performance

Please note, single exit and Dual Exit exhaust reported similar gains

The quad system was just released today. It's available with silver or diamond black tips. I just took photos of the S4 (same system) with the black tips. I'll have those all up in a day or so.

Your 98 RON is roughly equivalent to our NA 93.

from what I know, its not. US has "dirtier/lower quality" fuel. Basically what you are saying is that 100 oct us fuel – there no equivalent in EU. Hard to believe.

100 octane AKI rating (US/Canada) is roughly close to your 104-105 RON.

100 Octane fuel isn't "readily" available at your neighbourhood corner gas station in NA.....it's considered Race fuel and is "mostly" found at tracks. The typical ratings found at gas stations are 91/93/94 or your 95/98.

Typically we find 98 RON to be similar or better than most US 93 (Mon+Ron)/2.

Funny you say that because I find Canadian fuel to be better quality than lots of US stations. The odd time filling up across the border (on the U.S. side) I've had vehicles thoroughly dislike the fuel....even thought the posted octane level is the equivalent from Canada. Maybe the Canadian standards are closer to EU?

    I agree with this.

Under the same tune and same rating, Some US fuel gives me a CEL, while it's fine in Toronto. Boonie-town or random service station fuel being worse than the city ones, naturally.

Fuel trim being too lean. Car's drive-able. It tends to happen when I'm almost out of fuel or when I'm in places of unknown fuel quality.

I figured it might be cause whatever program (Stage 1) I'm on is less tolerant of fuel quality deviations. Is that right, or should I be concerned?

Okay so I just want to clarify something cause I'm confused lol even though I might sound like a idiot...so in another thread the apr downpipe is being discussed and how you need the additional HFC to see some big gains but looking at this model above of the downpipe exhaust system it shows that it comes with a testpipe!! Now am I smoking crack and just seeing things or does it actually come with an APR HFC..input please

Is there any reason to buy the quad tip other than for the look? If not, are there any negatives to having a dual exit quad tip on our cars?

LOL!! ....ok, I'm going to have to retract my above statement. I just went through the difficult and VERY tedious process of removing my rear valence, unbolting all the tips and rearranging them so the logos are now on the top. Much better now.....sorry APR for doubting you :)

Arin, any chance you will be offering an option of dual exhaust with single tips in the near future? It looks like the mufflers are set up for single tips but they have a 'v' branching out.

I'm a big fan of APR products and this post is simply an observation.

The B8 S4 3.0T(S) RSC exhaust which I'm assuming uses about 1.5 times the material as its meant for a V6, priced (insignificantly) lower than the A4 2.0T Quad-tip version...?

I second that, so maybe i should just get the S4 RSC exhaust and just take off some parts to fit my A4?

    definitely won't work.

    1. you are comparing an A4 turboback system to a S4 catback system in terms of price (that's why the A4 seems more).
    2. the S4 exhaust is a true dual exhaust. Even if you do manage to get part of it to fit onto your CAT, the S4 system's elliptical crossover design will pose a major problem. That second CAT flange entry will essentially become an unmatched 3rd split exhaust exit. I guess you could remove that extra CAT Flange section and seal the entry, but you would probably get some weird sounds b/c the sealed entry will add reflections that probably have not been accounted for by the resonators.

    Hi Arin,

I want to get the full turboback system (quad tip) for my A4 2.0L Stronic Quattro.

Will the downpipe section fit my Right Hand Drive A4 B8 ?

Heard that it might hit the steering column ?

Sorry if this has been discussed before, can't find a definite answer to this.

    Thanks.

All these dyno test are done with both ECU flash and the exhaust if im reading it right, are there any drawbacks to having just the exhaust and not both? besides the obvious change in power...

okay, I also just went through the TEDIOUS process (which also cause me to snap my rear valence in 2 places trying to remove it) to just remove the tips and rearrange them.

They are now like the picture and I am supergluing my valence back together.

I believe the software are to take into account of the increased air flow. Without the software, your drive would be "jagged"

if you already have Stage I, you get Stage II for free though.

    Arin,

The extra set of stainless tips are $169, and the diamond black are $199 - $30 difference. But the difference in exhaust system between diamond and stainless is $131. Are there other differences in these 2 systems besides the tips? And BTW - your A4 page has S4 under the tip description paragraph.

Like parthent, I'd also like to know if a dual exit/single tip option will ever be released?

    Thanks...

Just putting everything back together today and noticed something, and I am wondering if it's normal. I found this tiny hole in my muffler near the soldered line towards the outlet. the hole is present on BOTH of my muffler. I did not jack my car up so couldn't really tell if this was present on other pieces.

Looks like it burnt its way through. Hopefully it's not a defect of some sort that caused a heat build-up and puncture.

Do you have a wide angle pic?

Just checked mine.....1 "drilled" hole on the under side of each rear muffler right at the back and perfectly centered. I didn't bother getting an accurate gauge measurement but it's something like 3/32 in diameter. It definitely looks like it was done on purpose and isn't a burn hole or damage. Probably a way of tuning something in the RSC chamber.
My other home is an AIRSTREAM.
