The center bore on the S4 is 66.6 mm while the bore for the GTI is 57mm i believe. Otherwise the specs are similar.

if the bore is bigger , then its should fit over the smaller one right?

lol that's not how it works. You have to have the wheels bored out( machined to spec) for them to fit. The offset may be terrible also, another thing to consider. I don't know what good specs are for the GTi, but I imagine the offset of pretty high on an 8 inch rim so it will not poke.

the s4 18s are 18x8 et47, this is perfect for an a3 or a gti in stance. you would run 225x40-18 tires.

the bore in the rim is larger, so they will not be hub centric, but a shop may have an ideal hub ring to insert into the rim making it 55.7 instead of 66.56

I have run wheels without hub rings and it was fine, but you should look for the rings.

Okan , I think you are misinterpreting my question. I am trying to put a rim with a bigger bore size onto a smaller bore size fitment. From my research and from Lou's explanation it seems to make sense. You would only have to bore it out if its the other way around. ( using a 55.7 bore rim on a 66.56 mm car)

Thanks Lou. I am thinking of just slapping my stock S4 wheels onto my wife's GTI with the 245/40/18 tires. Thank you for your insight. I think they sell inserts at ECUtuning.com for an hubcentric fit.

good and bad news...the 245s won't fit with that et. 235s might , 225s will. 18x7.5 et 54 is the regular rim, 18x8 et47 is pushing the wheel out a lot. you can't put an extra 20mm of rubber under it with the allready aggresive rim et/width. test fit one just to see for yourself, it will be very easy to tell then.

I agree with Lou, test fit the rims. I don't think this will work. I have a set of new 245-40-18 tires and I also have a GTI with 18" rims. I wouldn't waste my money test fitting them on my GTI as they are just too big. The speedo would be way off, by approx. 2.5% over the stock tires. The circumference of 245's would be 2000 mm and the 225's 2050 mm
