good place for brunch/coffee in the Huntington Beach area?

I'm taking the kids to Disneyland this week, and want to meet up with a friend who lives just north of LA on Saturday for brunch or coffee.
I'm trying to find somewhere nice, but not too far from Disneyland, since I have to drive back to Phoenix that afternoon. Anyone help me out?

Nice looking place. However, after dropping for the Disney trip, probably need something a little cheaper. :)

that place is good..i like the Mining Company too - they are very close to each other.

ok - you're friend is north of LA and he is going to meet you down here? and you have kids that will go with you...

in Huntington (probably a 15 minute drive south of the world of mouse), there are a couple places. you mentioned $ was a concern.

    Sugar Shack
    Huntington Beach Brewery
    Beach Pit BBQ
    El Ranchito - gets crowded
    Fred's - gets crowded
    the longboard
away from Main - there's the Bread Crumb

some of these places get packed with people coming down to the coast for the day - so be ready..

There's some great places in LA/OC - pretty much you can get anything you palette yearns.

Add Plum Cafe to the list. It's a relatively small place and the atmosphere is sorta whatever but the food is undeniably tasty.

Plus since you're in the area, you can take the family for a nice leisurely drive down PCH. Or you can rent a duffy boat in Newport Harbor and enjoy a relaxing day on the water after brunch. :)

If u don't mind the drive to Irvine(15min) the Original Pancake House is really good, not buffet brunch style, more sit down, but really good.

^x2. Original Pancake House rocks. There's also one in Orange (off of Chapman and the 55 fwy)--very close to D-land.

all the little spots in downtown HB are good too that you listed Mark! I only been to sugar shack once though- not typical of an HB native huh. when i lived in newport though Cappy's was a place that i was always excited to go to-- and would even take the real special girls there in the mornin.. back in the day :P

i'm still confused on why you would meet in huntington if your friend is north of LA... that's like an hour + drive for him, and 20 minutes for you.. especially if you're planning on leaving right after you eat, being in huntington is an extra 20-25 minutes just to get back to the fwy. lol. i would say to go to original pancake house over by disneyland.. unless you really have a need to come to huntington beach.

i go to sugar shack all the time (altho i did have "no ka oi" today (eggs, portaguese sausage, potatoes and toast)) and it was good. sharkeez actually has really great breakfast too. tastes really good. not sure about Beer Co, or Fredz, or beach pit bbq..

if you did wanna come down this way for some reason, i'd say to newport and go to Cappys Cafe..like Rick mentioned. pretty bomb there. or just cruise main street here in huntington and go to any of the lil diners within 2 blocks of PCH and on Main :)
