    Inspection on salvaged MD

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My car was totaled last month here in GA long story short, bout to FINALLY get it back up and running waiting on parts and the shop. Im getting it all fixed now, then a long drive to MD because it is registered there.. Anyone had to put their car through inspection after being "totaled"?
I have never had to do this and wanted to know what to expect.
-Will i have to physically bring the certificate to the DMV? (im guessing so)
-(heres a stupid question) i have tint on my car thats dark (20%) .. will i have to take that off to pass?
    - is this a full inspection of the car? ie whole look through on a lift? or like emissions? (im guessing both)
    - anything else i need to do to prep? (i had a test pipe but got a highflow cat to put on.. that shouldnt be a problem right?)

sorry for the stupid questions but trying to get a feel of whats needed to be done and if i needed to watch out for anything in particular...

    thanks

Not sure if salvaged is different, but you should expect a full inspection unless you know someone at the inspection station. If you have tint it has to be certified that it is legal (35% in MD)..again if you know the guy doing the inspection or have a friend who knows someone they will not note that you have tint thus eliminating the need for the tint cert. It may take an extra $50 or so for some. Just depends if you know someone or have a friend.

well that kind of sucks haha, but thanks for the info.. the sides needed to be replaced anyway :/

so i guess otherwise i will be OK, as the car is in good hands, no rock will be left unturned i was told..

Not sure on the salvaged title thing, but Safety and mechanical inspections are seperate. When I changed over to MD from Mass, I had to find a garage that does Maryland Inspections and bring it in to have it looked over for brakes, lights, and what not. They didn't say anthing about my tint which is 27% but perhaps it just doesn't look very dark, I also had a CF hood which they didn't say anything about either. I have yet to get a letter from the MD DMV about a safety inspection.
