So what's the difference between engine speed sonsor and crank shaft position sensor?

So my Epc light and CEL came on. Pulled PO322 code engine speed sensor. Now when I look for that part on our merchant marketplace I only see crankshaft position sensors. Is there a difference? I ordered he crankshaft sensor from MJM already so I hope it's the right one. Any help would be great. Car is 2003 1.8t.
Random question... Was there a recall on b6 turbos? I tried searching online a bit and didn't find anything. Just wondering.

Did this fix your problem? I pulled the same code today. Car didn't want to crank today either. I have an EPC light and check engine light on currently.

The crank position sensor is used to sense speed also.

When the sensor is bad the car should still start, or at least mine did, I would guess it runs off a back up program using the cam sensor.

Changed the crank sensor and cleared the codes. Car runs great. No "no start" problems anymore!
