Is Pentofrost SF a G12 coolant??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    I have a 2004 S4 and I know it's supposed to take G12 coolant only.
The guy at a local parts store told me that Pentofrost SF is a G12 coolant and that it's for Audis.
    Can anyone verify this?
Should I use it after I flush the system?

Yes, it is G12. Pentosin makes the OEM coolant for Audi.

Unless it was dirt cheap, I'd just tell you to get the OEM stuff...it's very inexpensive.

Its the right coolant. It 's on the shelf in my garage and used the 1.5L bottle. It was between $13-$15 when I bought it.

Thanks for the replies. The dealer is about an hour away so I wanted to make sure pentofrost sf was safe. It's 12 bucks for the 1.5 liter. How many do I need for a flush?

If it is concentrate, you need 6 liters. Our capacity is 12 liters and you'll mix 50/50 with water.

    one more question guys,

does anyone know how to drain the cooling system on a 2004 S4?
I don't see a drain plug anywhere for the radiator

Pull off the belly pan. You'll see metal tubing going into the radiator. There's an allen-head bolt you'll remove. It's just off center towards the driver side of the car. It sits vertically.

What about Prestone Pre-mix...? Says "ALL makes & models - add to any color antifreeze"...

Ok I drained it from the bottom like you mentioned, but I didn't get anywhere near 12 liters. I assumed the rest was still in the engine so I filled it with water, ran the car and then drained again. It came out clear this time but I know there's still more water in the system because I'm not getting 12 liters. What should I do now??

Dude, have you never flushed a cooling system before? If you flushed it with water, pour in your six liters of coolant. Then keep bleeding the system and topping off with water.

Honestly, I think you need to read directions BEFORE undertaking projects. Or, let the pros handle it.

Adham, you need to have the thermostat in the open position to allow all coolant to drain from the block.

Shops use a special rad-cap funnel, so they can fill as the car is running & the thermostat opens & cycles the coolant.

What you did simply drained the coolant on the "cold-side" of the system, where the rad is...

Use distilled water to ad to the Pentosin. You'll be happier in the future.
