Ok, so my next question is how usable is the iPhone 4 when it's plugged in? Can you use maps at the same time as it's playing audio through the MMI? You mentioned you have to kill the iPod app a few times to get at other apps?

Another option is to find a second Audi iPhone-AMI/MMI cable on ebay and splice a longer wire in the middle of it. Here is how I got out of the glovebox with fully iPhone functionality: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...er-iPhone-Dock.
Installed: Grocery Hooks, BLESK Plate bulbs, iPhone Extension, VAG-Com, Luminics JDM Yellow Fogs, Chrome Grille Inserts, Rear 12v power, Underseat Storage, Folding Side Mirrors, B&O Tweeters, E-Codes with BLESK 5000K, Audi Hill Hold, S-Line Rear Bumper, Warning Triangle, DIS Stalk, Full-Function Rear Power Locks, ADS, Mirror with Compass, Q5 Wheels

i bought the extension because I had a b7 and the dock didn't have a design for the touch. So I did some research and found that cable jive makes multiple length extensions. It worked in the b7 and has worked on any iOS dock I have connected it to. A jbl dock, altec Lansing dock, etc....check it out at their website. Cable is a thick gauge and will allow it work at a distance from the glove box. Full integration intact.

Did you find a nice way of getting it out of the glove box while keeping it closed? Is it possible to close the box while the cable sticks out of the bottom?

    Bluetooth Solution for MMI 3G+

Have a 2011 A4 P+. Love the car, but was disgusted to find out that bluetooth streaming audio isn't supported. To make matters worse, my car didn't come with an aux jack. I know Audi released the bluetooth usb adapter, but that only works for MMI 2G. After some research and late nights on the forms, I created my own solution that has been working flawlessly for the past month.

    Here's what you'll need:

    1. 3.5 mm dongle adapter that plugs into your glovebox. Audi doesn't sell this on their U.S. car accessory page and other than a small mention in the car manual, there's very little info out there that this cable even exists! I initially tried saving some cash and ordering one on eBay, but for whatever reason that cable didn't work. I finally bit the bullet and ordered directly through my dealer. Part #4F0-051-510-F. Cost: $75.00

    2. Belkin Air Cast Car Bluetooth Adapter. This connects to the 3.5 mm dongle. It can stream calls and/or music via bluetooth. You can pick one up at any Apple store or Amazon. Cost: $70

    3. Optional stereo cable extenders from radio shack. Cost: $5

Total Cost $150 or $34 less then the OEM Audi Bluetooth Adapter for MMI 2G systems.

    Couple things worth mentioning....

I ran the cables from my glovebox underneath the siding of my center console to the storage space under the armrest. No cables show.

Most smartphones will allow you to select multiple bluetooth sources. My iPhone 4 does. I have the MMI Bluetooth selected for calls and the Air Cast Bluetooth adapter selected for music. Check to ensure your phone supports multiple sources.

With the 3.5 mm Bluetooth setup, volume is the only setting you can control. Pausing, skipping, selecting music must be done directly on the iPod.

All playback seems to work. I successfully streamed Pandora, Slacker and of course, my iPod library via bluetooth.

Music quality is a 4/5. For most people it will be enough, but some may take issue with the loss in fidelity. If fidelity is what you're biggest concern is, stick with the iPod cable that plugs directly into your iPod.

Let me know if you have any questions or anything to add!

Why did you need to run cables instead of just leaving the BT module in the glove box?

The bluetooth adapter needs to be powered via AC. I have two AC outlets, one in the ashtray and another underneath the armrest. Plugging it into the ashtray would show the cords, so I ran it through the middle console instead. I will try to post pictures this week so you can see exactly what I'm talking about. I've been using this solution for several weeks now and haven't had any issues.

I guess the major drawback is that you don't get the playlist on the MMI. I think if you're running cables you might as well get the Cablejive for much less, you'll get the MMI and also you'll be able charge your phone with the same cable. I imagine at least some of the time I would have my phone plugged into the power jack while it's streaming BT wirelessly, which kind of defeats the purpose.

Agreed, but the iPod locks when it is directly plugged into MMI. The bluetooth solution allows you to stream Pandora, ESPN Radio, etc.

Was doing some more research on this topic and founds this thread http://audiforum.us/threads/my-chees...olution.14124/

He seems to have figured out how to get the iFIPO device to work by using a blitzsafe ipod charger/aux together with it...

Any idea as to whether there's a Blitzsafe CD changer to iPod adapter for MMI 3G? Some searching didn't locate one.
