    Fuel Pump DIY Removal/Installation Guide

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone know where to find one, tried searching the forum but to no avail - I may be border-line retarded so don't make fun of me if there a bunch around. DIY Injector removal/installation I could use as well!

    THanks in advance!

Try searching for a DIY for the cam follower, as it involves removing the fuel pump. I know there are a few out there. Try google if you don't find one on AZ.

i cant recall how i found it, but i know there's a fuel pump removal DIY on AudiWorld. i changed my own several months back. its not too difficult. i own an Avant, so its a bit different as far as location. one piece of advice...MAKE SURE YOURE FUEL IS BELOW 1/4 TANK. it makes the job a bit easier. also, make sure you place pump and sender leads back on firmly!

for the cam follower replacement i cant remember where but in the later models (that have more flexible fuel lines and do not use the banjo bolt) don't you just have to unscrew the long torx bolts and gently pull the fuel pump back, grab the old follower, put the new one in and swap the o ring? rather then completely removing the fuel pump

    apology for the threadjack

I put together a DIY loosely based on the photo guide you just provided... Here's the thread with the link to the PDF which you can download http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...orm?highlight=

as far as the in-tank pump, from my understanding the difference is in the avant vs saloon, not quattro vs fwd. the avant has the access cover under the cargo mat as opposed to the saloon/sedan which is under the back seat.

now as far as the cam follower issue, i have no knowledge about it. you may have to search the forums for info on that.

I replaced both, left sender and pump (right side). Pretty straight forward but BEFORE YOU EVEN START, BUY THE TOOL TO DISCONNECT THE FUEL LINES.
    Tool is only $15: http://www.ecstuning.com/Audi-B7_A4-...All/ES1306816/

I know this is an old thread but for reference I left the rubber hose connected. Had to move the hose out of the plastic guide to allow more length to maneuver. Then carefully took out the pump to replace the follower. It's still pretty tight but doable.

How did you remove the 2 lines? Its too damn tight to fit the fuel line pliers in there. This damn intake pump is a pain in the ass!

LMFAO at no ones knows if op is reffering to lpfp or hpfp hahaha, when I had my lpfp out I had to use some PB blast to loosen up the ring that holds it down, this in turn caused my lpfp gasket to get a little stretched :-/

I will say that removing those fuel lines was by FAR the most difficult thing to do out of all of the maintenance jobs. Did it without tool but ended up snapping off the tabs. If you do need to replace those send and return lines I have them. Bought them just in case but turned out that I didn't need them. Will sell for half the price, comes as a pair- PM me.
