RS4 has been at the dealer for nearly a week..

They have been consulting with Audi corporate and they have not been able to get it fixed.

The dealer said they need to escalate and have an Audi field tech come out and look at the car, but they couldn't tell me much about the process..

Has anyone here gone through that process? How long did it take?

    Thanks guys!

Judging by what happened between Toyota and the public, I'd say the process will take between 2 and 5 days once the field tech arrives. It's a shame the dealer software can't detect the direct malfunction. Chances are, though, that the field tech WILL have better software equipment than the dealer, so it may be a relatively fast turnaround.

Yes, been through it with Audis and VWs. Hasten the process and call AoA yourself if you have to have the car back as a DD and they did not give you a loaner, etc. If you can wait, then wait and don't rush it.

I just had our Technical Field Manager come out for an S5 that I have been having difficulty with this past Friday. That car had been at the dealer all the past week while I tried figuring out the problem and until the TFM could get here.

Every case where the TFM has to come out is different and they are very busy people so the biggest problem with time is scheduling a good time for the TFM to look at the car. Now that doesn't include the time spent with the dealer tech and Audi's technical assistance people before the case is escalated to a TFM so it can take a little while.

My advice is to be patient and make sure that you are in a good loaner car situation.

If they're treating you well during the whole process, that's great. I wouldn't be a dick about it...patience will be the key to getting a good outcome. No need to burn any bridges.
