Well, the intercoolers turned out to be more expensive than expected when designing them. Okay, we had them made by ARC of Japan, which is not the cheapest way, yet we wanted to go with top quality.
This set of SMICs is still one-of-a-kind and I'm seriously doubting they'll ever be produced in bulk. A retail price of approximately $4,700 (for these two) would scare all customers away I am sure we COULD make them considerably cheaper if produced in bulk, but the market for S4 / RS4 B5 SMICs is virtually saturated.

What we know for sure is that a comparison between our 18-R SMICs (also fin-tube type) and the prototypes showed the intake air temp after the ICs was about 30°C (86°F) lower!

I'm going to add more pics later

Wow that kind of overhead on smic's would be retarded!

If you wouldn't mind sharing some info on where you got the core from I'd be interested in buying some of that, pm me!

Considering ER's have a 2% Delta, I don't know why people continue to try and make something better...You can't make the air colder then ambient

Here's our next part. The 2 disc Sachs RCS200 kevlar pad clutch kit with LOBA 31CRV9 steel flywheel (7 kgs / 15,4 lbs).
Made in co-operation with Sachs this is in fact Sachs' very first kevlar pad clutch! This clutch will hold 1000+ Nm (738 ft/lbs).

That's a def nice clutch. What do you use to bolt the heads? Studs or bolts.
It apears that you used bolts instead.

seriously... i'm contacting you guys when i'm a millionaire and want my 'museum quality' S4 built.

can you tell us more about Loba Motorsport's history - been around a while, new company, etc? Builds only or will you be developing and selling parts (like the clutch..that a one-off of this build or is it something you developed to sell?)

As mentioned, these guys are very active in audisrs.com and I have seen them around for the better part of 2-3 years at least. From what I understand, Darius Loba was or is a very experienced Audi Technician that went out on his own and they are based in Hamburg Germany. He does amazing work and has come up with a lot of cool stuff like this carbon Ypipe

...and their 3L stroker kit that uses Mahle pistons:

    and my favorite...these Cast manifolds:

I am curious about what kind of lifters and cams are those in that motor? They don't look OEM but I could be wrong.

    Those cast manifolds look awesome....

Anyone have the dimensions on the intercoolers? They dont look that big... (I'm sure the oval tube design is a bit more efficient, but bottom line- size matters)

Got some dimensions on these proto intercoolers from Michael @ Loba:

    260mmX260mmX100mm or 10.24"X10.24"X3.94"

    In comparison:

With that fin design, I'm going to venture to say that these will flow really well.

Considering ERs are 10"x8"x4.5" (13.5"x8"x4.5" with end tanks) I will go with the ER's thank you ;o)

Even though I would be the first to say Loba makes some of the best parts for the S4, bar none, I would have to see side-by-side IAT logs to be sold on these. As I said, ERs have a 2% delta and you really cant get much better than that.
