I was hoping to see some photos. I may powder coat my 18" rims hyper black rather than buy some cheap Chinese rims. These will be used as my winter rims. Cost is $520.00 from a local company. The only problem is the center of the rim is plastic so that won't be powder coated.

I don't have pics, but I can't imagine a glossy paint would look good in that color. Matte black perhaps, but glossy...

Sorry to butt in on the OPs thread, but I have a similar question. I have also been thinking about having my 19" factory rims painted black, or I was going to get some hartman wheels. Does anyone know about the quality of them. The wheels that I am interested in are #12 on the list of wheels. http://hartmannwheels.com/audi-wheels

    Thanks

I'm about to have my satin black (aftermarket) rims powder coated to either titanium or just silver. The black is fine, but you really can't see the rim much... kinda hides the lines. I'm sure the car will look "decent" but any "all black" rim will look pretty much the same, especially in photos.

If you don't wash your rims for a month, the brake dust will give you a pretty good idea of what you're heading for. :) I would suggest titanium...but if you must have black get at least glossy black to help catch the light.

Hartmann wheels are excellent... they do a great job replicating factory OEM wheels. They tend to run on the heavier side (at least they used too... but then again, some BBS rims are pretty damn heavy as well).. beyond that they're a great choice. #12 is my favorite.

I suggest you powder coat your factory rims. They can make them almost any colour. I was quoted $130 Cdn per rim. You end up with a quality rim not some Chinese crap which you would get at $100-130 per rim. If you didn't like the way they turn out or get bored of them later on they would be easy to sell. I'll post mine when and if I pull the trigger on this.

please don't do it. i hope the black wheels fad dies quickly. They remind me of wheels with missing hubcaps.
