    Question 225 vs 235 tires on 19x8.5

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay my 225/35/19 tires are shot.

One has a nasty side bubble, and a nail in the other.

I am thinking about getting a set of 235/35/19 this time. I like the stretched look on my 8.5" wheel. But I drive on pretty rough roads...I figure running 235 will protect my wheels a bit more and make the ride a bit more smoother.

My question is, is there really a big difference in 235 over 225? or should i just stick with 225s.

wheels dont mean crap, its all about the rubber you can run. the wider the better in my eyes. i would say you should go with a 235 and depending on what the ET of your wheel is i would go with a 255

Depending on the offset of the wheels you may even go up to a 245

235-35-19 is the way to go without sacrificing for the poor ride/unreliability of the 225 tires and without showing monster rubber like the 245s

Go with 235/35/19 with a GOOD TIRE that way you will still have a good ride and the stretch on a 8.5 looks nice. Thats what I went with and I have no complaints. The tires have a rim guard so it looks wider than what it really is.

Sorry to threadjack but I was actually debating the same thing. Except I will have 9.5 in the rear. Do you think 225 front/235 rear will be ok?

225 does sacrifice some driveability. You feel EVERYTHING.

I would've done 225/40 if I could do it over.

    Not anymore...

just put on 235/35/19 Falken 452

And it looks like shit. The tires look really fat and make the wheels look ugly. Argh, so frustrated.

Some tire brands are sized differently, for instance a 265 kumho runs more than .2 inches wider than a 265 general.

Not sure about falkens but I'm sure that fraction of a difference you'll get used to. My 235 kumho spt's looked stretched on my 19x8.5 wheels.

235/35/19 goodyear eagle f1 a/s are what im running

225 imo is too small for our heavy ass cars, and hit one pothole and your rim is done.

and 245/35/19 tires are expencive $$ at least where ive looked..

245/45/19 are too big and wont clear.

    id go 235/35 personally.

With soft alloy wheels like your fake LM's, I'd go with the most rubber you can fit.

hopefully you can see the profile on these....225's on 8.5. tires are kumhos...keep in mind, different tire manufacturers stretch differently.

    BUMP!

    I need some input!
Ive got VMR V710s, 19x8.5", 45mm offset... Right now I have 225/35s on them, but I hate the look... I want to go with 245/35s in the rear and 235/35s in the front.. Im thinking with the smaller tire in the front, when I get my PSS10 coilovers on in Jan I shouldnt have too many rubbing issues... right? Thoughts? Comments? More pix of 245/35s on 19x8.5s would be helpful! Thanks! :)

Interested in trading for a set of falken 452s in 235/35/19?
I'm fairly low so I rub on almost every corner.

I'll post pics and more details when I get home.

235s look good on non-dish wheels. 225s look good on dish wheels.
