1.8T Passat FWD 5 speed - 1.9tdi FWD 6 Speed Manual transmission Swap

Hi there any advice on this please if you've tried it, feedback would be great as im thinking of doing it... Im hoping to ripp through gears on GT30 build on the standard FWD box so would be good to have longer gears and for the extra 6th gear would be better for driving down to shows economy .

well i dont know much about the swap or if anyone has done it before, but i know acouple people who did hte s4 6spd swap in a 1.8t, and the gear ratio difference is horrible, you have no low end torqe, the gears are very long, yes you are pulling less rpms everywhere you drive but power was a big compromise, comapred if you have a pretty built car with enough power then it might be a good match. maybe the tdi tranny is geared completly different and usses lower gears because its a 4cylinder motor also and just offers a longer overdrive, im sure someone on here can give you some answers

Most people doing a 1.8 build stick with the stock 5 speed...they just upgrade the clutch

I have a upgraded clutch and flywheel, would that all mate up with the tdi box? i just wanted to know if it could be done and wondering what the gearing would be like.
