Eurodyne software... what do ya say?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
It's odd that there isn't a single thread in the B6 section that has Eurodyne in the title. So I'm the first.

Who is running it and what do you think about it?

I'm pretty sure Winston and Alex have it, so I'm just seeing if anyone has comments to add. I think I'm switching over from APR after my meth/water is installed.

    Thanks

We dont have experience with it first hand yet as the car isnt ready. But we purchased Maestro ME7 for the b6 I am building. I called Chris earlier to talk about the files he has for the car. Can't wait to get the one we choose and do some tuning on it.

I hope the b6 experience is as good as a few of my buddies running it that dont have b6's.

There have been numerous discussions about Maestro. Not sure offhand which forum they were in. I have it but have not had much time to play with it. Once my 2868 goes in Chris has a 630 mafless file i will be starting my tune with. Looking forward to it as Chris is local and there are several others I know locally running it.

I'm running Eurodyne M7, so is Chris (MmmBoost) and Chris T. (Bananas). We have had good and bad luck with it, Tapp's customer service is close to none. There is no help file or instruction for the program, so its very easy to screw stuff up.

there is tapps forums, which i see arent very traveled, but there is also a huuuuuuuge ME7 thread on vortex in the 1.8t tech area with a TON of knowledgable people like Al at PagParts in there helping people out.

Ive been running M7 it all summer long, its great software with endless amount of control. I've spent alot of time learning and dialing in my files, its badass stuff.

I've know Chris Tapp for at least 10 years, he tuned my 11 second honda and has been at the top of his game for a long time. He is a top notch guy and so are the guys at his shop. So naturally his products are the same.

Also big thanks to bananas for his support to the eurodyne forum, giving back means alot.

Hey Sam been meaning to be in touch you. Have my 2868 and trying to finalize some issues before installation. Looks to be heading more towards custom than I was hoping. I'll give you a call on the weekend. Chris.

Seems from the replies, a lot of the more hardcore AZ'rs are going Eurodyne (esp Dan[FN]). I have a pidly K04-015 but I am optimistic. The shop I'm getting the tune from is well known and been around for a long time - I will definitely post my results in a few weeks.

I don't see how you could really chose anything else if you are serious about making your car perform the best it can. Its everything this platform has ever needed. Its what Hondata does for the Honda guys. Its allowing you to take control of your ECu. The next best thing to this is a dyno tune. The only thing that is a slight con about a dyno tune is, if you change anything, you have to go back to the dyno. With Maestro, you are able to log it, and make the changes yourself, without having to pay for more dyno time or a new file.

i'm running a Eurodyne 386cc (tt) injector file. i purchased it with the idea of growth (might spend for the Maestro someday if upgrading demands it). the car performs well, and hasn't had any issues.

BNZ are you talking about eurodyne flash, or Maestro. They are slightly different.

I will go with the Maestro because I believe I'm maxed out on mods for the K04 - so no changes planned. In fact, I think the only thing that will change is gas, from 94 to 100 oct - the great thing is that the Eurodyne file automatically adjusts for different octanes! Therefore I want the absolute optimal tune for the parts/upgrades I have. This could very well be the last performance mod on this car.

....erm... wait, there are these big brakes I hope to get next year.... damn,it never ends - but this won't affect my tuning!

Maestro is great, but it's not user friendly. There is a steep learning curve to tuning ME75. If you don't have an "engineer's mind" you won't get much more out of Maestro than you would on any other tune + Lemmiwinks.

Tapp support is indeed a bit hit and miss. On numerous occasions he has addressed issues of mine immediately (issue emailed to support at 6:30PM, new Maestro release on the web site at 9:00AM the next morning). Other times not so good, especially if the issue is not described succinctly, or if you're asking for ME7 tuning advice. Basically I think he views Maestro as a tool he provides, but he doesn't want to be in the business of Motronic tutoring. If there's a problem with THE TOOL he's quick to respond. If there's an issue with YOUR CAR, he's not as likely to help.

The lack of an in depth manual is disappointing. However, Maestro is simply Motronic tuning just like EVERY other OEM ECU tune out there. I've gathered a lot of knowledge from various forums and web sites around the net discussing ME7 and ME75. I intend to write up a start-to-finish tuning guide specific to Maestro at some point (when I find the time).

The one I want entails the below.

-shop runs my car on dyno, takes the data sends it to Eurodyne
-Eurodyne replies with a flash for the car
-shop dynos the car again and looks at the data
-if the results are considered good, done.
    -if not, repeat above.

So what am I buying? maestro?

What you're describing is a custom tune via email, and I don't think Tapp does that (I could be wrong).

    A more likely scenario is:

-You, or the shop, reads ECU and sends it to Eurodyne
-Eurodyne replies with a base flash for the car based on your injectors & MAF

-shop dynos the car and looks at the data
-shop modifies tune and dynos the car again
    -repeat above.

The only other option I'm aware of is to get the base file with no tuning capability. If you get flashed AT eurodyne, I think Tapp may do some Maestro tuning for you at an additional fee.

Get the Eurodyne software and have Bob tune your setup

Bob has been working with Chris for a while now beta testing Maestro for him and has access to all the parameters to tune your car.

I'll have my car back on the dyno to do some Okada + spark plug gap testing next week if you want to come check it out.

How does Eurodyne Maestro deal with ECU's already programmed with something else? Does it completely reflash the entire ecu rerwriting everything, or does it append to a stock ECU? I already have programming... I just dont want the current programming to F up the Eurodyne base files.

The Maestro is perfect for those who know what they are doing and have the patience to continually tweak everything. I went with a custom software solution since i do not know how to dial everything in and don't have the time/patience to learn it. It was easier to just pay the pro's to do it for me.
