How do you remove the front passenger seat...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I'm trying to run some wires through the car under the seat and it's just not going to happen with the seat in. I've searched for an hour for how to remove the seat and tried common sense, but I don't see an easy way to remove it...

Could anybody be so kind and toss me a bone here?

    Thanks :)

Remove the two allen bolts underneath the covers on the front of the seats (You'll want the seat in the furthest back position, and fully elevated). Once this is done, simply tilt the seat back slightly, and slide it towards the rear of the car (look at the seat rails from the backseat and it should be somewhat obvious how it'll come out, you'll need to unbolt the caps on the backside of each rail to fully expose the back of the track where the seat will exit). Make sure to unplug the 3 (I believe) harnesses from the front side of the seat and you're done. I'll try and find the AW writeup which is a bit more detailed than my description, but it'll get you started.

^^^^^^^edit^^^^^^he beat me to it and did a better job....

not sure on a B5 but in my b6, just had the drivers seat out yesterday to run wires, simply pop of the plastic covers on the tracks(there will prob be a small plastice screw you have to pop out to remove them) then for my car there was a 10mm three square bolt(12 teeth torx) undo those and its out.

look at the rails on the back of the seat, there are 2 plastic covers covering the rails. pop open the little screw cover and undo the cover with a phillips head ....

then move the seat all the way back and slide the front rail cover clips forward to remove. then undo the t45 torx holding the rail down. now the front should be able to tilt backwards ... undo the connectors .... then move the slider so its all the way forward ... now just manually push the seat back along the slider and you will see the seat rails can be removed from the track when pulled all the way back - the carpet will kind of get in your way.

My bakc/forth motor does not engage so I can't move the seat and can't even remove it to fix it. Shitty design w/o manual operation.
