I dont think the OEM clutch could have been very comfortable with that run. They had to have flogged that thing hard to get a number like that. Mabey they got that number at Ferrari's down-sloped test strip?

Car and Driver got 5.2 and AutoWeek got 5.0.

Best launch I know is NOT the most abusive. Let clutch out smooth for 1/2 of travel while at 4k or so and once it starts to make the clutch 'slip' sound, smoothly drop the clutch altogether. It doesn't hurt much, if at all, to launch that way. There's also no wheelspin this way. My opinions. Others?

Hmmm, interesting. I find my best launch is to rev it to 2800 rpm and slip the clutch. Anything higher than that, the clutch has a bad smell.

Are you taking ESP off? I don't think that bad smell is as much the clutch as it is some computer gadget screwing things up. I know that smell very well. But it doesn't do it with the ESP off, unless I drop it brutally from a very high rpm (5500 or so... did it once to see. You can do that in an STi, you know.)

Motor Trend's test drivers don't give a rats azz what they do to the clutch. They got an EVO RS to do 0 - 60 mph in 4.4 seconds!!! The RS is quick, but not that quick if bone stock.

Hmmm, I did take the ESP off. Still did not have a great 60ft time, until I did the approach as described above.

If it's wet, it's REALLY easy. Otherwise, I don't suggest doing it often. But I've turned off the ESP and dropped it at 5k or so and kept it with the throttle all the way down for about 5 secs. It'll burn 'em up FAST.

yeah, I won´t do it all the time, but as soon as I get mine from Germany in December, you bet I´m going to try it at the first stop light I see ... thanks for the info, I´ll try it as you said..
