    Hi All,

I was wondering if someone could tell me the difference between the non s-line grille and s-line grille? Or are they the same?

    Thanks,
    K.

The only difference in grills are the colors on certain paint colors. For instance, my Brilliant Black A4 came with a 'Stone Grey' colored grill. Other colors come with 'Gloss Black'.

Now, there is a physical difference in the A4 and S4 grills. I'll dig up some pics.

Thanks for the info. So I guess mine is stone grey? I have a meteor Grey paint.

Mine is non-sline. Do you think a glss black grill on my meteor grey looks better or the stone grey variant?

Yepp - looks Grey to me.

It looks good IMHO. Here's a few pics of a Meteor Grey w/ Gloss Black upgrade from the other thread:

I have a non s-line A4, the gloss black with chrome surround was pretty cheap ($200) Got the platinum grey out and had this put in. Have the front plate delete that i had painted gloss black. Been driving without a license plate for a year almost, but just got my first 'warning' yesterday from a cop; sucks. Anyway, i like the look of the gloss black, compared to the standard platinum grey. Next i might blacken the chrome surround and drop the ride height and get new wheels.

Hmm not bad, for some reason I like the grey grill on the meteor better.. Maybe I just need to get used to the gloss black on meteor grey :)

I never really noticed before that the "up-and-down" lines were more prominent on the S4 grill as opposed to the "left-to-right" lines on the A4. It makes for a whole different appearance--much more aggressive looking. I like it.

I am not sure how it is in US, but in Europe the S-line grille is exactly the same stone grey grille as the standard grille.
The gloss black grille comes as a standard only with 3.2 V6 models.

There are also black optic grilles available for S4 and A4. These grilles are satin black with gloss black frames.
    see here for example.

    All A4/S4 grilles are interchangeable.

IMHO meteor is one of the few colors that look better w/ the stone gray grille than the gloss black one, the reason being that it is one of the more dynamic colors and tends to take on a darker hue a lot of the time. W/ it being dark but not quite black, the look can be a bit odd w/ a gloss black grille. Sorta like wearing navy blue socks w/ black pants Again, this is just my opinion after months of considering grille and wheel finishes for my meteor car.

The gloss black grilles only came on the 3.2s (which have been discontinued) here in the US AFAIK. I believe the new Ti package comes w/ the black optics grille.

Yeah I think a matte finished grill would look best for the meteor.. I think the gloss looks a little tacky on meteor.

just to clear some things up...

All A4 grills are now the same (stone gray) regardless of sline, car color, etc... (excluding cars with the TI package)

S4 grills are all the same (w/ vertical lines) and stone gray (excluding cars with the TI package)

Gloss black A4 grills did come with A4's with the 3.2 engine which has since been discontinued in NA...

The TI pack includes a matte black grill w/ a gloss black surround....

    Thanks for clearing it up.
DubC: with your A5 Y wheels, what colour is that one? Is that the best suited colour for meteor grey A4 B8's?
