    B7 engine mounts?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Thinking about replacing the engine mounts on my 2.0T CVT - passenger side is leaking. Is it easy as it sounds, similar to this one (without the sway bar removal) ?

    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...tor-Mounts-DIY

Or is it a bit more complicated for the B7/CVT? I've changed out timing belt if that helps with reference to skills...

Also is 034 comparable to OEM? I want a smooth idle/ride.

    Thanks

Subscribing. Not sure how hard it is but I was wondering how good the 034 ones are aswell. Also is the left and right motor mounts the same?

I just installed the 034 Street Density mounts and have been driving on them for the last 300 miles and they seem to be pretty good it does add a little more vibration but all in all they ride nice.... One thing they do do is make you more aware of every little blip your motor does.. You just have to readjust your self settings in your mind to accomadate changes... <****-If that makes any sense...lol

Thanks guys all the info is helpfull. my turbo side mount went on me and it destroyed my apr snoutmount bushing. I talked to a tech about it and he suggested if you need to replace one you should replace both at the same time to prevent premature ware of the other mount or the new mount you put in.

I will be installing 2 034 motorsport mounts hopfully soon, and ill post up the resalts for you guys.

Excellent- looking forward to some pics and tips - I'm just concerned about the part where one jacks up the engine using a piece of wood on a jack against the oil pan. Will the arc of a floor jack move the engine and put too much stress on the transmission? Do I put the car in park or neutral?

Vizi- thanks for the feedback on the 034

No problem man, As far as the floor jack goes you only apply enough lift of the motor to loosen the mount so it is easier to replace them.. You aren't jacking the motor up a couple inches..... Oh and not the wood won't hurt the oil pan or anything, but with that said I also wouldn't support the motor on the oiil pan for days on end....

Did you have to remove the snub mount? Does that include taking out the bumper?

I just swapped out my old mounts for new ones, pretty simple per the link in the beginning of this thread. Opted for the OEMs cause I wanted good dampening. FYI, there's a ground wire very close to the passenger side mount- make sure you don't contact your tool with it or you'll get a nice spark :)

Bumping this because I recently had the local dealer tell me my mounts were bad, when I asked her in specifics she mentioned that the left, right and center mounts were bad. But looking around everyone only mentions changing the left and right mounts, so has anyone heard about having to also change a center motor mount?

center mount is the snub mount. the engine does not rest on it but technically it is considered an engine mount.

I did my buddies mounts in an afternoon using different forum posts. I tried to document the process in this video! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lRFRiA-W2w

    Hope this helps!
