    Audi Military Sales Europe Questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know anything about Audi's military sales program for soldiers stationed in Germany? Like if the vehicles are up to American specs so they can be shipped back to the states and how much they cost, i.e. are they cheaper then buying in the states? (wifey wants an 09 A4 now lol) Thanks in advance for your replies.

I did some homework a while back and I got this:

The Audi Military Sales Program was specifically designed to provide a tier one experience to our military customers, from dealership to delivery. The program provides 100% price protection, 100% satisfaction at delivery or your money refunded, and special military pricing that can save buyers thousands of dollars. It is operated by the Overseas Military Sales Corporation. Please note: To become eligible for the Audi Military Program you must be a member of the U.S. military serving overseas, or a Department of Defense ID card holder stationed outside the continental USA at the time you place your order.
Three separate programs are in place:
Serving in Europe, Italy, or the United Kingdom
    Contact: [email protected]
The Audi Military program is offered through Auto Exchange. With sales locations throughout Europe, you can benefit from our two distinctive programs. Select from Inventory of over 300 tax-free* vehicles at any one time for immediate European delivery, or custom build your own vehicle through the Special Order Program, which can be delivered overseas or to any authorized Stateside dealer.
Serving in the Middle East or Far East
    Contact: [email protected]
Military AutoSource operates the Middle East and Far East Audi Military Sales Program. Their expertly trained consultants will contact you immediately to guide you through the entire buying experience.

From what I heard its not a huge discount, I think 500 off but I could be wrong.

I hear with BMW, you get a huge discount in Germany for the military. Like at manufacturing cost. So a 750 would be in the 30-40k range.
This is coming from a co-worker that has family stationed in Germany.

Hmm now what does "selected" mean to them? I.e. base line models of selected BMW 3,4,5 series..... sure you can have 7k off this 5series sedan...with cloth interior,no ac,no sunroof (sauna),and your own personal workout station (manual windows) lol

www.pentagoncarsales.com if you'd like a general overview of the program. If you are interested in a BMW, contact Mathias Hemmer in Germany [email protected] and tell him Clyde sent you. Example of Military discounts thru PCS http://www.pentagoncarsales.com/bmw/...lass=M&body=M3 Coupe. BMWNA http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Conte...EbwZ1Dq5ce3Q==. Notice the almost $8k savings for the M3. Certain BMWs cost way less than others. Regardless, you'll still save around $4-8K, depending on the purchased model. I'm trying to locate my Audi connect in Germany. Give me a few.

So is this purchasing a car and having it sent over there? MSRP on the build was $34,625.00 :( thats the same price from Audiusa.com, or is that the final price with no dealer markups or anything?

It's very hard to find 6MT that is Cert PO, but don't give up just yet. You have plenty of time to search and find one. BTW, I just e-mailed a friend of mine in GE asking him to look up for my Audi guy, so give me till tomorrow and I'll update you.

I bought my 2004 BMW 325i in Germany when I was stationed there. Audi does not give hardly any incentives to purchase overseas, and like most said, you can get that $500 discount just haggling. BMW usually gives a savings of $6k-10k off of US pricing, and MB was about half that.

The "tax-free" is a misnomer as well. You may have to pay sales tax when registering the vehicle in the US, depending on state and if you trade a car in. If you trade in, you should have paid tax on that sale, and that is usually taken into account when registering. All of this is why you have to buy the car 6 mos before leaving Germany and have at least 1k miles on the car (imported as "used" vs. "new").

If you are looking for an incredible deal - go BMW overseas, then sell in CONUS. If you are really looking for an Audi, call a dealer that is used to working with US service members and deal directly. I bought my BMW through a dealer in Wurzburg as they were used to operating with us all the time, told me exactly what I needed to get, from what offices, even the proper forms, etc.

All that said, I bought my B8 for about 5k under MSRP in the US and only haggled over the internet (email). Make sure you don't pay close to MSRP, there are plenty of incentives programs in the US that can save lots of $$ under MSRP.

I'll weigh in a little. After purchasing 2 BMW from PCS and shipping only 1 back to the US, I paid no tax upon the vehicle entering the country and it only had 892 miles on the odometer. The thing about having the car for six months and at least 1k miles on the odometer is somewhat complicating. Certain states won't charge you sales tax on the vehicle once you've had the vehicle registered in Europe IE (USAREUR) with plates. Wish I had a pic of the registration to show you, sorry I don't. If you get a car from Germany, all you do is have it registered and parked till you finish in Afghanistan. By the time you leave Afghanistan, you might have the car at home rolling around.

BTW, I'm still waiting for a reply from my friend about my Audi connect in Germany.

Sounds like BMW is way more willing to give service members mark offs, AHH if only that 335xi was way cheaper than it is, RWD just doesnt cut it in the snow, and no way do I plan on paying anyone MSRP haha like you both said theres too many incentives programs out there. So to clear up on the registration, Ill be moving to Germany in Feb, so if I buy a car in the US for the registration over there through USAREUR I shouldnt have to pay any kind of "import" taxes to bring it with right? And if Im stationed in Germany and buy in country but register through USAREUR I should avoid the 19% tax the Germans pay for everything as I understand it? And Hoppy so did you not have a POV when you first got to Germany until you bought the BMW? Reason I ask is was it tough not having one when you first got there?

Went through Diplomatic Auto Sales (would only deliver State side, and had to ship the vehicle back overseas although work paid for that) and pricing was about $300 under invoice.

Yeah I checked out Diplomatic and Pentagon Auto Sales, both offer a slim discount and the Army will pay for me to ship overseas so for me at least thats not an issue :) Im finding a few deals here and there but none so far that really stand out as anything really great :(

The average price I seem to find for an 09 A4 premium pkg seems to be like 29-30K sound about right?

Quick answer - I shipped one car thru Army (Free) and one personally (about $1200 USD all concluded). Registration in USAREUR is like any other state in the US, just a transfer of tags and I don't recall the price being anything of issue, just getting new plates issued/mounted, etc.

If you own a car, either sell it before leaving US or take it with you (its free). I sold my Ford Escort ZX2 (paid off) before leaving Germany and traded the other vehicle in on my BMW purchase. Just like the US, they will use Kelly Blue Book values for your trade in, so no issue there. The only cars I know of that sell well to locals are classic US muscle cars that are well kept - very hard to get in Europe and they would have to pay import fees.

If the Mrs. really wants an Audi A4 09, you should be able to find some top notch deals, but don't be afraid to travel to get the best deal (ie. search the internet, email dealers, etc). If you get one with nav, it should (SHOULD) be EU compatible, you will have to buy a DVD nav disc from a EU dealer when you arrive, however. If you save enough $$ on the purchase, I would HIGHLY recommend getting some tuning upgrades before you go - Audi of Europe does NOT have the same warranty as Audi of America (ex. Germany only has a 2 yr warranty on BMWs and NO free maintenance vs. the US 4 yr warranty and free maintenance for 4 yrs).

Buy an 09, recommend manual over an auto (most vehicles are manuals in Germany), get ECU (eliminate governor), suspension, & RSB (tamp down handling at high speeds) put on at a minimum (about $2000 ish). If you can afford it, FMIC as well, the Audi will thank you for it when cruising the autobahn at 120+mph. Anything else, even those above, can be done in Germany, but you will pay in Euros (not USD) and pay VAT (taxes, but can get this money back, or not pay it at all, with appropriate forms from the US offices).

Send a PM if you have more pointed questions, I have some friends in Weisbaden currently who can check on things.

For the autobahn is it worth it to get the sports package, pay the extra for the sline, or stick with aftermarket parts?
