The quote said this "Your Price includes destination and all other manufacturer fees plus applicable incentives."
Doesn't say anything about the Dealer Fees... ie the dealers here in Georiga add anywhere from 399 to 800 dollars in "Dealer Fees". I'm just saying, don't assume they are not going to add them. Ask for the Drive Out Price with all fees included and broken out for you to see.... that way there will be no surprises on the day you pickup your car.
Also, your invoice is $ 37,085 + 875 Destination= $ 37,960 in my opinion and not the $ 38,354.00 that Truecar shows you. True car adds in regional advertising cost to the invoice price; however, not all dealers actually use the regional advertising and are not charged for it by Audi.
When people on this or other forums are talking about Invoice Price, 99% of the time they are talking about the Invoice price you can find on Edmunds.com, which won't include regional advertising support. Start with your invoice at $37,960 and then have them add the fees in. If there is an advertising fee, so be it... but don't be fooled into thinking that all dealerships pay that fee. Personally, I think that is a cost of doing business, much as paying their power bill and water bill... and you don't see a "fee" for that. So when you see someone say 1,000 dollars or less above invoice is a good price, they mean without any Dealer Fees or Advertising fees. The invocie for your car as optioned is $ 37,960, then anythng under $ 38,960 + your tax, tag and title out the door is a good price.
The only other thing I would say, is make sure they are pricing you a 2011 and not a 2010. The 2010 have a $ 1,500 dealer incentive right now and the 2011 just came out so they do not yet have any incentives that I know of. I don't know any dealers in the Atlanta market that are willing to sell below invoice...
For me here in Georgia here is how I shop for the car...
Edmunds invoice is $ 37,960 (this includes destination fee)
add tax of 6% = $ 2,277.60
Tag fee = $ 20 (if I remember correcly)
Title Fee = $ 18 (if I remeber correctly)
Subtract any rebate or incentive to the buyer or dealer
Add $ 1,000 for MAXIMUM Dealer Profit
= $ 41,275.60 (MAXIMUM out the door price I am willing to pay)
When negotiating the price I would offer the sales guy $ 40,775.60 OUT THE DOOR and see what he says. I don't normally waste too much time dealing with back and forth. I let them counter with an offer and if not under my MAX, I will offer the the full 1k profit IF I like the dealership... otherwise I just move on to the next dealer.... I'm sure others can and do haggle the dealers down more, but I feel comfortabel in that range and have yet to have any dealer let me get up and walk away.
It only took a few times in my younger years that I dealt with a dealership that quoted me a price and only did I find out all the "fees" when I showed up to get the car. Believe me, dealing in Drive Out Cost has made my car buying life so much easier.
