I would like to know everyone's opinion on the best and must mods every B7 S4 should have (tints, body kit, lights, tires, seats, interior, exterior, etc). And how much do they cost? Pics are a bonus. Fire away!

I agree, but it helps a ton if I get some good things to search for. I'm at the point now where I don't know what I don't know. If I know what I don't know I could search for it, but at this stage I need a boost!

A good set of rims makes the most dramatic change to a car. For appearance and function, I think that should be the first thing done.

I think most have covered pretty much what you need... i'll just throw in my two cents on the 'cheaper' mods.

    1. Tint - absolutely makes every car look better.
    2. Clear corner - get rid of those yellow ambers and it really cleans up that front.
    3. Front filler plate instead of licence plate - same as above, get rid of that ugly plate and it will clean up the front even more so. It's a risk yes, but it's one that a good number of people (including myself) are willing to take.
    4. Spacers (12mm front, 15mm rear) - if you are going to keep your stock wheels, this will fill make it much more flush with the fenders and give a wider/bulldog stance when you look at the car from behind.

    Hope it helps.

I did a search on these and couldn't find a good explanation to what they were. I saw in another thread someone wrote

"Tip+JHM Tune and Piggies = GOOD MORNING!!!!
All I can say is WOW! Woke the car up throughout the whole RPM range. S-Mode is a whole different animal now. Pulls strong! Bring on the intake manifold!!!!!"

Now I'm even more curious. Could you elaborate on why it is the best money spent? I'm assuming these are for speed, and not appearance.

Do coilovers = coils? I see on wikipedia that coilover = suspension? How does it enhance appearance and performance? Does it enhance appearance because with it you can adjust the height? Performance because they absorb shock?

    "Here's stock width compared to 20mm f/25mm r."

The bottom does look wider with a bulldog stance. How do spacers achieve this?

Does "fill with more flush with the fenders" mean that it will decrease the gap between your tires and your car?

Yes and yes. They help appearance with the lower ride height, and a good set of coilovers will tighten up the ride and help with performance.

Yes, exactly. But spacers are also useful if you have wheels that can't clear aftermarket big brake brake kits because there isn't enough space, like Brembo's for example. If you use spacers, it enables for more space for the Brembo brake calipers or any other big brake kits to fit. For B6/B7 S4s, the 12mm front and 15mm rear spacers seem to be the most popular choice for appearance.

I see that other people have said things like tint, exhaust, and other performance mods but the best appearance mod that I think you can do is have Cilajet put on you car.

My clear coat was cracking on the surface and was majorly noticeable on the back of the car. After I had the detailer put Cilajet on my car it has nothing but a mirror finish all the way around. It is amazing but you get what you pay for and my dealer charges over $1,200 to put it on a car along with a full eight hour day to do it.

I will post pics soon but here is the official Cilajet website for you. http://www.cilajet.com/Product.htm

Audi has some of the best paint in the industry, how did you get clear coat cracking on a car that at most should be 7 years old????

Where is the best place to purchase these spacers from? I looked through JHM's website and only saw the 5mm spacers.

Audi has improved their paints over the years and as time passes they are getting better. I see it in the difference between the B8s (A4/S4/A5/S5/Q5) and the older C5s (A6/S6/RS6) which are a world apart. The paint Audi uses has not always been this good and a prime example of this is the early C4 A6s that had metallic colors because the paint had only metallic in it with no mix of other ingredients to make it last. So about right after the warranty ran out, the paint would start to crack which most people assumed was the clear coat but it was really the base coat paint under the clear coat. My older E32 7 series BMWs had the same problem with the gold paint but that was before I switched over to the four ringed dark side of European cars - MUHAHAHA.

As for my S4, it had been in a rear collision and the body shop that painted it didn't do a great job so the clear coat started to crack three years after they fixed it.

Sadly my regular D3 S8 customer is having this problem too and he could use the same solution as me with his three year old car.

piggies are the stock downpipes with the pre-catalytic converters cut out, although some people go one step further and "gut" the entire downpipe by cutting out the pre-cat as well as the main catalytic converter.

2.5" x-pipe catback is a catback that is 2.5" in diameter that has an x-pipe crossover in it pretty much right after the downpipes connect to the catback. the most common catback on the forum that meets this criteria is the Fast Intentions catback, but there are various others floating around, such as the Corsa catback that I have, which I'm not sure is manufactured anymore. Some people also get their catback custom made with magnaflow mufflers, etc.

The JHM tune is exactly what it sounds like. JHmotorsports, which is currently the most important V8 S4 developer, has their software reprogramming that you can get, among many other fun performance mods, on their website at jhmotorsports.com
