Reliable as any other audi,if not maybe more sense theirs no turbos and like someone else said here once, the main arteries of the s4 are quite strong.i've had great luck out of mine.....with the exception of the coils, but thats kinda a given and it should be under warranty. If you can find a cpo,you should be good.do a search here and look.heard of the usual windows regulators, control arms, eats brakes and rotors, etc. Previous owner care really is the deciding factor.

buy one you'll find out... you get what you pay for (Sometimes).. make sure the car is taken care of, you take care of it and it will take care of you.. just keep in mind its a foreign car and parts on it are not cheap.. good luck

Get a compression test done when you find one you are really considering.

With a full service history you should be fine. Anything less, walk away.

most people you buy a car from wont allow you to do this.. or at least it is rare if they do.. you can try it and see if it works out... if the car is taken care of with service records or some type of records then the car is fine.. if not, you may be buying a shit box or just get lucky..

it ain't no honda. you need to purchase a warranty or have money in the budget to fix things as stuff WILL break.

most common are the valve cover gaskets, starter, ac compressor, flywheel on the b6, window regulators, fuel pump. then there is the whole engine issue which should be a concern for anyone looking at this as a "reliable" used car.

I have a warranty, but wondering, what do you mean by "whole engine issue"?

There is another thread here to catalog engine failures. It's a very tiny percentage.

IMO if you can't wrench on cars and/or don't have a warranty I wouldn't consider this platform. I've had pretty much every "typical" S4 problem with mine. Out of the 6 Audi's I've owned this has been the worst one. This coming from a former B5 S4 owner. lol

these cars are pretty solid, just like any model line you get some that are problematic. For the most part, our customers usually only do services, repairs are not as common.

Their very pricey to maintain and keep flawless. But every time I get behind the wheel I'm like a little kid on Christmas. So I'd say go for it!
