    Transmission Control Module TCM Location??

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Can someone please tell me where the Transmission Control Module (TCM) is located on the B6 S4? I've read it's located under the ECU on the A4, but it's not that way on the S4. I've hooked up an amp and ever since then, I'm getting a U0101 code and engine will not start. Someone with some knowledge on the S4 please help me out.

Its inside the transmission. If yours is bad you need a new valve body and TCU
If you don't have haters, then you're not kicking enough ass.

JHM powered 12.2 On the JHM Tune With Launch Assist for the Automatic JHM Nitrous kit/JHM headers all this in a Automatic.

And lastly for the grammar police that are bound to step in

Ya, it is inside the transmission. It's at the dealer now and just needs a new TCM. It's only gonna cost $3300!!!! $2700 for the TCM, $500 for labor and $100 for oil and gasket. No more aftemarket electronics in the S4 for me. Guess I'll have to live with the crappy Bose amp and just upgrade the speakers.

Ok before you spend that kind of money what fault code were you getting. These TCU's do fail but its rare.

U0101. It happened after I hooked up a 0 gauge power wire to an amplifier in the trunk and connected the ground wire back to the battery and then would not start and showed that code. I dont see how it could of zapped the TCM from hooking up that one wire, but I have no choice but to pay it and have it fixed. I had it towed to an import shop in town and they told me it was the TCM and that Audi needed to order a new one and have it programmed because it was VIN specific and Audi dealer told me the same thing. It was the first time EVER that I had something wrong that I couldn't fix myself. I could have ordered the TCM and installed it myself but would still need to go to Audi to have it programmed! Now I have a sweet amp and subs to sell, because there not going in my car now.

Just ran into a similar issue. And I'm really looking for some kind of option outside of dropping almost $3k. Can you get a used TCM or transmission, and then have it programmed?

Or you could look into JHM's TCU tune.
