Busch Aluminum Polish - can be hard to find, but well worth it; this was the only stuff I found that would clean up my water-spotted B5 S4 Avant r-r's.

    Rides:
    '06 S4 Avant, silver/black w/ alcantara, w/ V8 goodness - new DD (finally back in an S!)
    '07 A4 Avant 2.0TQ S-line & Ti, I-white/black (unicorn?) - w/ APR goodness, old DD, now beach-mobile
    '93 BMW 850ci, FE Red/Black - major garage queen

    Previous:
    '01.5 S4 Avant, Silver/Onyx (Sold...miss it a whole lot )
    '98 BMW 328ic, Cosmos/Grey/Black (Sold...miss this one a whole lot, too)

^ I tried that on my window trim and did not have much luck. I may test 0000 steel wool in an inconspicuous area.

should work fine for roof rails at least - its just heavy cut paint polish, and the rails are clearcoated.

..I have been working on my 2004 S4 roof rails with (Mothers) aluminum polish and (Meguiars) waxes....they have improved as they were water spotted when I got the car...but cannot get them to look anywhere near my 2000 2.8's rails...could the factory stock finishes be different on these rails? Was the 2000 rail a shinier finish to begin with?

I still stand by the idea that there's no need for a special aluminum polish on these rails. Yes, they are aluminum, but they have multiple layers of clear coat on them.

This is in contrast to the trim, which, on my car, is untreated aluminum. Polishing the rails, the rag stays white. The trim, it gets stained black by the aluminum coming off. I know things changed a little bit regarding the materials of trim/mirrors etc, so that's why I say, "...on my car...". Its an 04 though so our experience should be the same.

    Try my M105 technique?
