    2007 s6 reliability

    Hi Guys,

I am looking into buying a 2007 audi s6, it has about 50000kms on it and comes with extended warranty upto June 2013. Anyway, I have never owned a german vehicle before. I have always driven a japanese car so reliability wise things has been solid for me.

Are s6's reliable? Is there anything I need to watch out for before buying this vehicle? Please let me know.Generally with my lexus and infiniti, I am used to just taking it for scheduled servicing through out the year. I never have had to take it in for any problems.

Its a German car with an Italian motor. Dont expect anything nearly as kosher as the Lexus, this is far more performance driven than that. It may go 100k without having any issues, but these cars havent been around long enough to see high milage, so you might be breaking new ground.

Wasn't the motor built by VW/Audi for the Gallardo though? Does that still count as Italian?

If they had a hand in it, I'd lean relability towards 'Italian' classification. However, they did go with the German (Bosch) fuel system, so thats a huge advantage over Magneti Marelli

Nice car choice! This is an executive high performance sport sedan. The motor is a detuned Gallardo engine. This car will do 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds. This car was not marketed to the fast and furious set. But to those who are the top 10 pct of the highest wage earners. This car is expected to be seen at the country club, not in front of the Walmart. I came across this http://www.edmunds.com/audi/s6/2007/consumerreview.html . I like to see what people who own the car think of it. Most German cars have decent reliability but once the mileage creeps up so do repair bills. Quick google search lists the water pump at about 325US, Beru coilpacks can be found for 36 US, LOL you need 10. Rock Auto has the serpentine belt for less than 20 bucks. This car probably requires engine pulls for many repairs like the c5 rs6 does. But natural aspiration has fewer moving parts. Just find a good Indie mechanic for when this thing comes off of warrantee. Good luck.
