    2010 Audi A5 / APR Stage 1 pics included :)

    Hey guys,

I just got APR stage 1 done about 2 weeks ago. It's been awfully humid and hot in Chicago as of late so the the car is running very sluggish. I do feel a difference but hopefully it gets a little cooler. I just got my AWE exhaust shipped to me a couple of days ago. Will this help at all when it comes to acceleration and better overall performance with APR Stage 1? Also it wasn't humid in Chicago today but really hot, will this affect the turbo also?

    Here are some pics

Sexy car, but first, we will need to know is this the 2.0t or the v8 engine? I will assume turbo since the heat is destroying your performance. That will change how temperature effects your car. A turbo car is killed by hot temperatures, which is why a FMIC becomes so important. The full exhaust will help with performance, but won't change the way temperature effects a turbo car.

Pretty obvious it was the 2.0T. I only hear good things from the A4 guys about the tune, say that it's a totally different car with it.

APR plus AWE FMIC... problem solved... BTW did you opt for quad AWE exhaust?

Yes, I went with the quad AWE exhaust. I still have to order the parts for the A5 to S5 valence conversion.

    Thanks for you replies.

Will also need one of these?: EuroCode Tuning High Flow Intercooler Pipe or just the FMIC

You don't NEED it, but might as well get one to help reduce the turbo lag since you're already going all out with the FMIC setup.

As I understand it, the AWE FMIC cools air exceptionally well but it may introduce a slight pressure drop in the system because its core is so huge compared to the OEM unit. This should then increase turbo lag since the turbo now has to work longer to pressurize a system comprised of more volume. There have been some "heated" (I'm here all day folks ) debates about this issue; I'm just regurgitating what I understand of the topic.

Anyway, if this is indeed true, the Eurocode intercooler pipe (which effectively is a soundbox-delete) will help negate this side-effect a bit because the turbo no longer has to pressurize the volume of air inside the OEM soundbox. From my experience, the improvement isn't as noticeable as say an ECU tune, but I definitely noticed slightly better throttle response and what seemed to be slightly less dead time during shifts. For the price, the mod is worth the money especially since its install is easy enough to DIY. As Blake said tho, it's not absolutely necessary.

^^ Yep this is exactly what I have seen said. Ideally you want the same size IC but with a larger top to bottom footprint to present more surface area to cool the charge without increasing the size of the charge to cool in order to reduce/eliminate lag.

First, use full words like "you" and "are", not U or R. Mainly because it makes you look uneducated and people won't respond. Secondly, just read the forums and take in the information. Everyone started at the same place you are at with cars, it just takes time and understanding.

APR is a company that produces parts for Audi, VW, and Porsche. www.goapr.com is their website. Check it out and read about the parts they make. If you don't understand what a particular part does or how it works, google it and find out.

APR has a tune for the B8 A5, there is Stage 1 and Stage 2 out right now. Here is the link for the tunes, read all the information about the tune, it should help you understand. http://www.goapr.com/products/ecu_up...sivl_long.html

Stance is the way the car sits basically. If a car is lowered on springs or coilovers(if you don't know what those are, search the forums and read), the car is said to have a lowered stance.

Finally, I'm guessing my powdered, you mean powder coated, and you can buy painted emblems from some of the vendors on this site for cheaper. Most people would call losing the emblems debadging.

No problem. I was in your shoes 8 years ago when I first started getting into cars and it is very overwhelming to say the least. I know it seems like there is so much to learn and it will take forever, but I promise it gets easier. Find some local meets to attend and that will help a lot. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions on anything you don't understand. You will probably get some dumbass responses from some people, but don't take it personal, they are just being internet badasses. Most people will be very helpful. Best of luck on your learning process!

    Hello All,

I have APR Stage 2 running at 93 octane W/ AWE quad exhaust, AWE Downpipe, AWE FMIC, Eurocode Intercooler pipe.

Let me tell you, this is a whole new beast. so much power between 2,000 - 5,000 RPM. Feels great on the highway also.

Seems as though you beat me to it.

I wonder how much psi your turbo is pushing. I have more or less similar mods and I am pushing 1.4 bars at max.

On another note, what is the Eurocode IC pipe? I have never heard of it!
