    ok.... so this question has been inside my head all day but someone said that the 2004 vw gti is awd (the 3.2l version) and the other versions aren't is that true, can someone shed some light? Or is the 2.8 and 1.8 as well? thanks a million
    how can I add a picture here? imageshack wont work and other wont either HELP!!

    I thought r32's were essentially the platform golf's and gti's shared. am I wrong? and If I am then what the heck is the r32?...so alkivar you tellen me that all r32's are awd?
    how can I add a picture here? imageshack wont work and other wont either HELP!!

    R32s are AWD, GTIs (1.8T and VR6) are FWD

    The V6 R32 Engine and Drive Train are completely different. Wheels, exterior and interior pieces are specific to this model only.

    GTI is a different beast all it's own. They are both built on the GOLF platform... that's it for being similar.

    thanks but does the r32 use the vr6? then wouldnt it be the top of the line golf? and the gti be a step above?

    also {PMS}fishy I have been googling thats why i came here to ask because I couldnt find what I was looking for

    The R32 is the top of the line Golf. It is a VR6 engine, just a 3.2L as opposed to a 2.8L in the Golf VR6 model. The R32 usues a Haldex AWD system called 4MOTION. They all sit on the same chassis. The R32 is the only model in with AWD, the rest are FWD.

    If 'top of the line' is defined by original MSRP, then I think it's something like Golf < GTI < R32

    Guess I just figured you didn't look. In case you care it is also the same drivetrain that was in the A3.
